Should be less than £300 all told.
Doesn't make up for the time wasted and stress caused though!0 -
hiya i am new to this forum, i was just wondering whether anyone can help me.
My wife and I have applied for the my choice home buy as we are both key workers (nurse and teacher) and have just relocated to Northants. My wife has a perm job and i have a 12 month fixed term contract of 30 hrs per week, prior to relocating i was on perm contract. The house we are trying to get is a new build. We have seen a finicial advisor and he has helped us filled out the documentation for a joint application for the my choice home uy scheme. However he did not ask if i was perm and the amount of hours i do a week- just asked for my salary. Do u think this will be a problem ? wondering if anyone can help asap
Thanks
Also if it is not ok could someone please suggest if thereis any alternative things we could do
i forgot to add the property is 3 bed room my wage 20k (if fulltime) wife wage 24k
Thanks0 -
You won't be allowed a 3 bed if there are only 2 of you applying as a couple, unless you have/are expecting a child.0

does that include all the schemes, if this is the case why has the housing company allow us to put reservation on house, also advisor did not say anything about this. if this is the case its a load of rubbish because i wanted to buy a house for the long term not short term.0

Yep, it is aload of rubbish. Unfortunately, A lot of developers seem to have got in on the act talking about MyChoice homebuy as though you will definitely get on the scheme. In order to proceed using MyChoice Homebuy you have to be approved by your local Housing Authority. Register your interest in the scheme with them first, and they will provide you with an independant financial advisor for free who will assess your needs and explain the scheme to you.0

Got a letter from TVHA today stating that they now have funds available. Great, except the IFA told us 2 months ago that we don't qualify on affordability.
It's all more hassle than it's worth...0 -
I called ownhome today and they are not offering any more appointments until early next year as they are currently over subscribed! Looks like me and my fella will be making an application to the eastmidlands homebuy agent - lets hope they have some money left in the pot.0

just to warn people about this scheme.
We applied, were told we qualified, and were given the go ahead to search for a property. This we did and contacted them to tell them. So they said we needed a reservation form as it was a new build, and details etc. In order to get a reservation form we had to RESERVE the property which meant we had to instruct a solicitor. We told them this and they said "yep, do so.. it's well within the means and is a new build so no probs" (the paperwork said not to spend any money but the lady told us we'd need to to get the paperwork in order for the final 'okay'). So we reserved, we instructed a solicitor.
They then faffed, and faffed. We heard nothing, so we phoned and they told us "sorry, we havent any funding left".
We have lost the best part of 1k. One wage family with children, a month before xmas.
Funnily enough the lady agent who told us to reserve won't return our calls, all we get is the receptionist who says "oh, we're applying for funding next year..."
I wish i had never started with this scheme. It sounds great till you get to the end and they screw you over. Our solicitor is fuming with them, as is our financial advisor (who spoke to them.. and they told him we had to reserve as they NEEDED the paperwork!). the solicitor, F.A and everyone else involved cannot believe they have done this...
Guys, don't even go there.0 -
Hi I am hoping to buy using the Mychoice Homebuy scheme and am wondering if there have been any success stories.
The funding must be disappearing somewhere, so Im wondering if theres anybody on here who has been successful in securing the money and a property and the process they had to go through.
I have been accepted onto the scheme and have had a financial assessment but am just waiting for funding to be re-allocated as they have run out of money.
Does anybody know what happens when you find a house you wish to buy and submit the housing form (unsure what its called)
I have tried to get an answer from the housing people but they just tell me that they'res no funding.
I'm a first time buyer and want to have the process run as smoothly as possible. Dying to get out of my parent's house!!!0
