I wish you all the best with it all and hope it works out as you will want it to.
Will say though that the tax men are not very patient and are very likely to make you BR. I would write them a letter outlining your proposals and send it recorded delivery to them.
Now you have found MSE use it to the max. Get your SOA up on the DFW board and see what savings the good folks on there can help you make and use the other boards on here as well, there is a lot of help and support on the forums.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Hi Tigerfeet,
I know I am pinning a lot on the tax man agreeing to this but i am hoping that for once i get to speak to a person with a heart there. Could just do with a break as we all could on here so hopefully will get one with compassion. If it helps my cause I will throw them a grand as a token gesture to prove i dont want the debt to be written off with BR, or do they just prefer making people BR to cross a debt of?
I will attempt an SOA tomorrow but at the moment with no incomings I can only list my outgoings.
thanks again to everyone for all your help and support.0 -
Are you already in conversations with the taxman? If not I would start the negotiations now. You need to know where you stand before you start on the path. It would be too aggrevating for words if you overworked yourself to find that the IR make you bankrupt in any case.
Don't mean to discourage, just not convinced that you will bring in enough money to keep the taxman at bay.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Not in negotiations yet, tried on the phone today for nearly an hour just in a queue. Did ring after 4 though, will ring them 9 o clock tomorrow.
I understand, and respect, what you are saying re them making me BR anyway and yest it would be beyond words.
Just really hoping i can come to an arrangement with them, surely for them to get the WHOLE debt back, albeit over a period of time, is better than having to write it off?0 -
Good luck, ITBS
Just a last thought - If you have an accountant take their advice re best approach. ie term of repayment, interim payment , deferrment , final settlement date etc. The tax people like good preparation.

Hi ITBS:),
Absolutely Brilliant, I've just read the entire thread from start to finish (don't know why I hadn't looked before now:rolleyes:).
But, from reading your initial post, to now, I've got maximum respect for you;)
You're determination is inspirational, I hope things work out for you. I will be interested to see if the vat man plays nice and you can get your new business / finances together! (I'm not doubting that you won't do it! vat man permitted!)
Great stuff, honestly!:)
Thanks & All the very best.
edit: had to add that bit0 -

Hi Amidone4.
Thanks for your support, really appreciated.
Re the VAT man, he can sw1vel:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: these debts will die with the business. (sorry if this is against anyones morals but I need some humour to see me through)
Its for personal tax I'm worried due to overdue tax from self assessment 05/6 and 06/7
My accountant has been an absolute gem but she is off this week school hols!! She believes i may be able to get something sorted, she doubted me once re an appeal over a surcharge on vat, she said i had no chance they never back down she has handled hundreds of appeals but they don't listen. I had a double espresso 2 cans of red bull and then sat there and typed the best letter in the world (should have got an oscar) to which they replied stating surcharge removed.
My accountant now has this on show in her office with my signature and a quote "Anything is possible" Makes me chuckle when I go there and see it.
From that day I now hope for the best until the door is slammed shut.
Will keep everyone updated.
Thanks Again.

Love the double espresso & red bull x2 letter preparation, and that you're accountants got it framed in her office - Brilliant. Yep, I knew the tax was personal. Hope it goes well mate.
Cheers
