Yes but that's exactly the problem with the feedback and the stars. In feedback andy thing less than a +ve is regarded as bad, whereas really neutral should be the norm and now for the stars unless people get a 5 they think something is wrong, whereas 3 is a better norm to leave 4 and 5 to reward and 1 and 2 to punish good and bad performance.

Sorry, I don't agree with this - neutral means neither good nor bad, so how can that be the norm ?

It might not be but it should, surely having the norm as +ve doesn't leave any room to show where someone has given outstanding service, and as Ebay regard Neutral as the same as a -ve the whole feedback system becomes a joke.

It reminds me of when the A* grade came in with GCSE's - Regardless of what the PR merchants are claiming, the GCSE's these days are a doddle, compared to O-Levels, so as more and more people were getting higher grades, there was nothing at the top to distinguish the outstanding from the mediocre.

Going off topic, the amount of school leavers I have interviewed for office jobs over the last few years that have 8, 9, 10 or even more GCSE's, but have not got an ounce of sense or reason in them. I was proud when I cleared my 10 GCSE's back in (insert a year that does make me sound that old..) but now I know they have been significantly devalued. Having seen a GCSE paper from last years syllabus, the whole thing is nothing more than a box ticking exercise.

    Just like feedback...!

  • there's always going to be some idiot that insists that something being delivered the very next day by first class, or that thinks that P&P is just the cost of the stamp.

Don't you mean delivered one hour after auction ends in a beautiful diamond encrusted box and carried by a pair of beautiful blonde water nymphs?

I love those "where's my item?" e-mails where said item was purchased less than 12 hours ago, particularly at weekends :) I'm brilliant yes, but not superhuman :p

Seriously though, I am finding that there's an increasing breed of buyer who expects the p&p charge to just cover the postage price - I had my p&p DSR knocked down from 4.9 to 4.8 last night for a heavy book that I charged £3.50 p&p for, dispatched in a brand new large jiffy bag (it was a thick hardback), and cost £2.90 something to post. I know 4.8 is still good, but as a sometimes buyer myself I always take into consideration packing costs, petrol costs etc when leaving DSR's for my sellers - in fact I very very rarely give less than a 5.

Would you like to buy something off me ? The feedback I get is glowing, eg.
"Nice Cards Just As Described. Well Packed and Quickly Received. AA+++" and they still didn't give me a 5  in any category

Yup, those lovely people. "I paid you yesterday, where's my item?!"

It would be interesting to see how many of the PSs have 4.6+ across all 4 items, unless of course they are able to have bad scores removed.
