Funny coming from a guy who asked earlier in the same thread not to be called a fanboy. In addition, people normally quote when the quote is actually relevant to their answer, but I didn't mention any other system, and that includes a XBOX360 (which I happen not to own).
for info, I own a XBOX, PSone, GBA SP, GB, and NeoGeo Pocket. Nice try nonetheless.
I'd still welcome the £300 though. I accept cheques if that's more convenient.

I still don't see your point? Why would I send you £300 for recommending someone get a PS3?

You people make me laugh, trawling the net like a troll looking to cause a stir :rotfl:

Since you are unfamiliar with sarcasm, the reason I ask for £300 is because you recommend the most expensive system available today on a site called "MoneySavingExpert.com". I'm not saying that the PS3 is not a good system, it probably is, but telling someone on a money saving forum to fork out £300 because of a common problem covered by a 3 years warranty (warranty specifically extended for this very problem) seems very strange indeed.
"Troll" heh? Wow, isn't it incredible how this word immediately justifies one's point when someone disagrees.

I'll buy the old one for £50!

You could try the towel trick (search youtube), combined with opening it up and applying decent thermal paste between the GPU and it's heatsink.

Pm if your serious to arrange , I am up in Glasgow/Edinburgh next weekend if convenient

The OP is clearly going to have to buy a new console as his warranty became invalid as soon as someone opened up the xbox to flash it. If you compare the two consoles "like for like", the xbox 360 is £250 and the PS3 is £290. Baring in mind you get a Blu Ray player with the PS3 (which has now won the Hi Def format war) isn't it "money saving" to buy the PS3 over the 360?

I bought a new console last night, and dropped it off to be flashed, I did consider the PS3 but those joypads just dont work for me, and I couldnt give a tinkers about BluRay. Moneysaving didnt enter it.

Surely if you've got a premium already its worth taking the HD off of it and just getting a core??

    For £159

  • Dude I had the EXACT SAME THING happen to my flashed 360.

Searched high and low for a decent solution. Was faced with 2 options:

1 - towel trick. Might as well put in the oven, may be a temp solution but you will essentially kill the insides.

    2 - pay £50 for repair with a 3-6 month warranty.

.... i actually went for option three in the end. DIY fix. Depends on how savvy you are with the inside of a PC - took around four hours but 5 months later not a hint of a problem.

    Good Luck!

On second thoughts, I don't think it'd be a wise choice given my current financial circus.

But I definately think that if you chucked it on eBay, there'd be some interest.
