Was expecting it, but it finally happened I got the 3 red rings of death, The console is out of warranty, is there a company that anyone has tried that has successfully repaired the 3 red rings error.
Or with the recent price drop do I bite the bullet and just get another console?

bite the bullet and get another, with the cost of them these days its far better to buy a new one, than recieve a reconditioned unit which they would send to you. I got one sent for repair and it came back, and broke within 6 weeks, and because it had already been repaired, they would not send me another one in such a short time, so i bought a new one.

I realise that MS will repair all 360s up to 3 years, but I bought mine second hand and it had been flashed by the previous owner. Hence why the warranty is invalid.0

Buy a PS3, less than a 1% failure rate and is a better all round console........and I've owned both consoles before anyone calls me a Sony fanboy!0

Phone Microsoft anyway they will most likely repair it for free, if it is the 3 red lights of death.
Mine got one red light and it cost me £60 to get it repaired by Microsoft last month when out of warranty, it now has a new motherboard the one they put in the newer machines and another years warranty from date of repair.
They've been pretty good and it had less than a two week turn around0 -
FYI offical letter from MS to say they will repair it for free

MS won't touch a flashed console for two reasons:- By opening up the console you invalidate your warranty as there is no real reason for a consumer to have to do this.
- By having the drive flashed you might as well just ring MS and say "hi, I've had my drive flashed so I can play copied games but I've got a problem, can you fix it please so I can get back to NOT paying for games".

Sorry cant do PS3 due to I cant stand their controllers, bleeding awful things.
Anyway have reserved a new 360 for collection tonight and will get it flashed at the weekend.
Oh and the reason for the flashing, is not to play illegal games, I play backups of games I own, as the 360 seems more than able to scatch discs rendering them unplayable.0 -
