Guy at work.. Should i tell him?

Yes, he definitely comes across as insecure. Most of the HPCT's seem to be.
Why else would they take so much pleasure/interest in other peoples misfortunes?0 -
Here is my take on things. Just to add, I have a vested interest in house prices dropping significantly seeming I am looking to buy.
I remember when I first started looking into housing in a little more detail and came across the HPC site. To the inexperienced, reading the often well written posts on there almost gets you believing the hyperbole. You almost start using the stuff you read on their as your own opinion just because it sounds so good. I have seen so many people posting on these forums who seem to have kept their eyes on a few forums for a decent period of time and then suddenly come out as geniuses, knowing all about a given subject.
Anyways, I digress. I took a step back from that website and although I am no expert my gut feeling is nothing as severe as they 'predict'. I think that house prices at worst will stagnate for a period of time. I think they may drop slowly in the relatively near future but a crash? No chance, I just can't see it happening. Money is power and the majority of people who have the money will not want a crash to occur and will do anything they can to try and prevent it.
However, if there was a crash, I can't say I would moan about it0 -
I read that forum once and it passed me to this website through a link. I make my own predictions based on my own area... for the drops I am already seeing. Using property Bee. I may be stupid for doing this but i like to be well informed before spending money. After all this website is about saving money if i can make a better decision by doing this research on the biggest purchase of my life than i guess this is money saving no?
Average house prices are dropping in my area. They have been dropping nationally.. just we haven't reached Negative Year on Year figures yet because of the boost for the first 8 months or so.
MrSafeGaz in the other thread you were not only aggressive towards me but others who disagreed with your opinion of sponging your parents. You make character evaluations based on nothing, are you a psychologist?
Your responses attempt to discredit me by any means... spelling, saying i have no social life, calling me a tit... list goes on. Now if i am so bad... have you not just come down to my level then? Where have you acted in a civilised manner?
If you constantly remind me in any thread of your perception of my wrongdoings then whose obssessive/defunct now?0 -

are you kidding me?
If you were mugged and then saw the same person who mugged you getting mugged would you feel as sorry as you would if it was an innocent bystander?
You would not.... feel exactly the same way. This is how i feel about BTL investors who have pushed the price up.. Maybe i sound bitter but thats me, Im not going to stop discussing it because people insult me personally. Thats just bowing to your pressure.0 -
tomatopuree wrote: »Just a thought, on PropertyBee it brilliantly shows how lots of people have reduced their prices. As Neas points out, no one has put their prices up. Who would put their house on the market and then a while later think 'I know, I'll put the price up a few thousand'.
Although I think there will be a slight fall in prices in many areas, I still believe there will be a market and stable house prices for decent properties in decent areas.
Neas, it doesn't seem this guy bought this property to take it off the market for FTB'ers, he's living in it isn't he? If so, the guy took a risk, a dangerous one which may backfire, but I wouldn't be so harsh on him.
I was just wondering if there was any point trying to warn him. If he is stuck he is stuck and no forewarning could help mitigate his losses etc. So i won't tell him.0 -
neas neas neas, a couple of weeks ago you were wondering which way the market was going to go yourself. You are a recently converted HPCer and we all know what zeal a recent convert has.
I am suprised by the tone of some of this thread. There is no need to call people names even if you don't agree with what they are saying. Doing so just makes you look an idiot.
neas you do seem to be acting a bit bitter, he is not getting mugged, he has made a financial choice and he will have to live with it, the way we all do. He may make or lose money, you don't know.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
you misunderstand my analogy. He is atemmpting to 'mug' other people by thinking his house will make him money (money will come directly from FTB buying his house in 2 years time for exactly).
If he gets 'mugged' back by a fall in house prices would you feel as sorry for him? You are right though he made an informed decision at the time and even though he is young is still an adult.
I've been a house crash convert for 3 months, only psted 2 weeks ago here. But thanks for backing me up on the insults.0 -
He is not attempting to mug anyone else at all, he is trying to make money, if he doesn't then he will learn and move on.
Do I feel sorry for him? No, nor would I much if he lost loads of money.
If he was your brother or best mate, you could have a word with him maybe... but you can't advise people (or at your own peril) on life changing advice. What would happen if you were wrong? Hmmm
What if he would have made loads of money and you made him lose loads?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
guess you right... I dont believe what i read
. I research my areas property prices... using property bee...
Just a question though, do you own more than 1 property?
Want some stats? Every day i check changes on rightmove.. every day 10 new houses reducin their prices by 5k+ nobody is increasing their prices... :P

Ok bury your head in the sand them my friend... guess you have a vested interest in property otherwise you'd see the signs.. like all the nation.. god even he sun newspaper is reporting this.
I think you have an unhealthy obsession with house prices, and need to get out moreShould've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
