BUT, some of the international rates vary from those charged for those with BT lines using the 18185 prefix (in the same way that 1899's do)
Calls to Spain, for example, cost 4p connection and 2p/minute using the 18185 prefix but 4p connection and 1p/minute using the 0808 1 703 703 number.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Do they (the 18185 people) read this forum or has someone asked them about the discrepency? Or they could have just spotted it themselves.
The reason I ask is that they have now changed the description I copied and pasted above at 2:12pm (saying that the connection charge for 0808 and 020 7 was 2p) and it now says 4p which would explain why when Heinz checked it, it was 4p.
Oh well.0 -

Yes as is Dialaround. But you have to dial the access no and then you have to dial the ngn no,and if the number is engaged a min call charge will apply.
Where as if you have an auto dialler you just dial the ngn no and the call will route you the cheapest way,and if its engaged you want be charged.PF.0 -
I just had a junk SMS text from them: "New!! Make calls within the UK for zero pence per minute via 18185! No prepayment / no monthly costs! Subscribe for free on www.18185.co.uk"
The sender is shown as "18185" (there's an abuse of CLI).
I wonder why they sent it to my mobile. My mobile number is registered with them so they would have the number that way - but it wouldn't make sense for them to target people who have already registered to ask them to register.
Other possibilities - my mobile is already registered with their other businesses 18866 and 1899.
Failing that, they may have joined up with all those irritating companies who send junk texts about phone upgrades and used some sort of mailing list or random/sequential number generation.
I don't approve, but then again I like saving money and these people are saving me money so I can put up with the odd junk text!
Frankly though I never respond to junk texts so if others are like me they won't get far with that kind of marketing campaign.0 -
Signed up yesterday and had the first bill this morning of £1.62
Seems they are doing what 18866 did two years ago when I signed up and have taken the the first bill when the call charges reached £1.50. Although the charges for a 0845 number are no cheaper than BT it does make it easier for staff when they know to use 18185 for 0845/0870 and 18866 for geographical calls0 -
Has anyone tried using it through a NTL line everytime I try to use it says "the line is temporarily unavailable, please try again later"?
I am using it through the Orchid Dialler, from the drop down menu I picked the option '08081703703#####', is that the right option?0 -
