Quite, which brings us back to the comments I made in #841.
Sometimes you just have go with your own (well-researched) view that you are doing nothing wrong, and then if you don't trust the organisation concerned, put whatever lawful obstacles you can between you & them.
It shouldn't be that way - but I think it reflects how many long-term LLF people see it.
@MSE: Is it possible for you to approach BBC/TVL and ask them for an official company representative to the forum, please?0 -

Thanks for the suggestion Cornucopia, I'll ask TV licensing and see what they say...

...and expect the representative to publicly list all the ways the licence fee can be avoided? Turkeys and Christmas spring to mind.
I'm launching a TV licence preference service if it's any use to MSEers. I'm actually thinking of taking it on the Dragon's Den (though my target clientele might not have heard of that programme).
Here's the deal. I will give you a cast iron guarantee you will never be disturbed by the licencing authorities, in any way, written or verbal. My service will also allow you not only to watch catch up TV but live transmitted TV through an aeriel with impunity!
I'm initially going to provide this service for the knock down price of £2.99 per week.
You'll never have to worry about TV licencing again!
Please p.m. me for a direct debit form.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0 -

I'm just guessing figures here:
I pay £12.12 a month, over a year, it's say = £145.44
You say 2.99 a week, over a year = £155.480 -

Have you read the on-line tax manual published by HMRC? That tells you how to avoid really important taxes that pay for important things.
The reason for asking is because we have "issues" with their services that they may be able to assist with in exactly the same way as other official company reps do.I'm launching a TV licence preference service...

I remember BBC TV Licensing writing to someone and telling them its not their job. They exist to collect money to fund the gravy train and not help people who don't need oneThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. I pay monthly by direct debit.
Then I would advise against simply cancelling the DD.
If you do, you will likely start to receive letters from a DCA called Iqor, chasing you for the "arrears" you allegedly owe to TV Licensing.
Instead, simply ring/write to TV Licensing, stating you no longer need a TV Licence, and are cancelling it.
Once you've done that, make no further contact with them.0
