Nonsense! What on earth do you think they live on? They catch flies, moths, mozzies, all sorts of nasty insects that bite, carry disease and are far more of a nuisance than spiders.pumpa wrote:look up 'tegenaria gigantea' on google. do the search, youll want to puke!
Oh come on, pumpa! What's poor Teggie (as I call him) done to you? As for aggressive, sure they are - to other spiders. What are you expecting, that he'll back you into a corner and set about you with a baseball bat?:rolleyes:
Spiders are beautiful, fascinating creatures, and there are few lovelier sights than webs covered in dew or frost on a winter's morning - they put lacemaking to shame. There is no species of spider native to the UK that will harm a human being, and the fact that the odd black widow or tarantula (the latter also harmless) makes the headlines shows how rare it is to get an imported one. 'Fraid you've been watching Arachnophobia too many times. Just use a long-handled duster and shake 'em out the window, and don't be so wimpy.:rolleyes: And remember:
If you want to live and thrive, let a spider run alive.:A0 -

I was alwasy told that spiders are good for your house and here you go. I'd much rather have a spider in my house than dirty flies. However, i'm not keen on killing anything so if there is a natural eco system in my house i'll let the spider do the cleaning for me. I have a few in my house and if i see them i always put them in a place that is dark. Round the back of the fridge is a favourite. In the end if there is too many my fat cat has a bit of exercise by stamping on them in the night whcih i tell him off for but he never listensDig inside; inside is the fountain of good, and it will forever flow, if you will forever dig.0 -
oi! i never said i kill them! i get someone to put them outside!
im not going to apologise for having a phobia!!!
i know they dont hurt you..jeez i don't like it when they run. i can't stand it. why do people always assume when you have a spider phobia you think they are going to eat you or something? the amount of times people have said to me ''it wont hurt you you know!!''
and it wasn't a teggie.
it was a boris. a grandad boris.Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0 -
I think I've heard somewhere that if you put conkers in the corners of the room, it acts as a spider deterrent as there's something in the scent of them that they don't like... have never tried it but have often wondered. It's gotta be cheaper than sprays/traps etc?! Are conkers still around or have they all gone now?0

Ok heres the deal, I dont really like spiders but am happy to take all your spiders providing you will take all my frogs/toads! Daughter saw one on our front path as she was leaving the other evening and that is it - no way will I leave this house once it starts to get dark. I am absolutely terrified of them, this is a real phobia! I know they cant harm you but I cant help it, I cant even watch them on tv! God send me a plug in to keep them out of my garden!0

I was sat in the bath a while ago and for some reason I had to look at the overflow,sod me first 1 leg,then another,and then this ruddy spider pulled it self out:eek:,well,I was out the bath like a polaris missile,water all over the floor and all my EX wife could do was laugh:mad:
mind you I am 6foot and 15stone:rotfl::rotfl:
now all I do is chase them with super strong hairspray ,give em a good coating and wait till they get slower and slower then creak to a stop:rotfl::rotfl:IMOJACAR
