HELP!! I need to find some Spider Spray.

In America you can get spider traps! I think someone could make a fortune importing them over here. They are like large cockroach traps (cardboard boxes with sticky floors), that you place in the corners of rooms.
In our house, spiders have perfected the art of hiding in bath towels. But only in the towels that you haven't shaken out prior to using. They are also so huge you can sometimes hear them walking on our vinyl flooring!!!
Kittens and puppies are good spider hunters. When they get older they realise spiders don't taste very nice, and they get too bored or slow to bother chasing them."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
i had the vapona spray...was ok but they still came. had to sell the flat though.....
then my dad bought me the spider vacuum...think he got it through the telegraph, but lakeland also sell them..
now i am really brave and hoover them up. don't release them humanely...they would only breed and come back to attack me, so i let them die in the hoover, then throw them out.
takes 2 dd batteries, and they have been in for atleast 2 years...the duracell bunny just keeps going.0 -
My Bettaware Spider Stop has arrived at last!!
I've planned my evening as follows:
18:00 - Get home from work
18:05 - Dyson entire ground floor, including all corners, windows, etc to catch them all
18:30 - Light the BBQ and leave to heat up
18:40 - Dyson entire 1st floor, again attacking anything that moves
19:00 - By this time the BBQ should be nice and hot! Empty Dyson into the BBQ and put lid over the top (With a bit of luck this should stop the same spiders returning)
19:10 - Spray all doors, windows, and even the doors from room to room with spider stop. Make sure to do the loft hatch and any air vents too!
I'm hoping this should help, lots. If not I could be looking for another solution. I don't think I could use the plug in things as I have goldfish and it might affect them. A friend of mine had someone clean the outside of his house some time ago. They pressure washed all the brickwork, and cleaned out under the guttering, etc. He managed to get the bloke to spray all the outsides of his window frames too.0 -
My dog Rambo (or Rainbow as my husband calls him) tends to play with them, he picks them up and throws them in the air, eventually when they've had enough he usually eats them........ bleugh......Everyone has a photographic memory, it's just some of them don't have film.0

OOoo I remember one time, (I was about 16 or so) I was on the phone on LBC (after much persuading by my dear departed dad who was an LBC addict) and the presenter on there asked me what I was scared of and how I got rid of them. Well it was spiders anyway, I said "I usually spray hairspray on them - they run away, then kind of just get stuck to our carpet usually under our sofa, mum's scared of them too so we just leave them there....." My dad wasn't best pleased.....Everyone has a photographic memory, it's just some of them don't have film.0

What is it with you lot? What have spiders ever done to you? We have several spiders that live in our house (also in the rabbit hutch we call a holiday home in Scotland) and we treat them as honoured guests and always make sure that they are well out of the way when we vacuum the premises. What we don't have is flies horrid dirty things :T0

Spiders don't catch flies, they make webs in stupid places and die - crawl across your pillow while you are dropping off to sleep - dangle down beside you while you're on the loo - float past you after you'd been in the bath for a soak - hide in your shoes undiscovered until you put them on - and so many other evil evil things. The must be killed.....all of them!!
I don't like them, can you tell?0 -
I agree, Spiders are struggling to find a purpose to exist as far as I can see. When I did the sweep last night I managed to remove about 30 or so. Most of them are just the little spindly ones (crop spiders I think they are). I currently get about 5 a day on the ceilings in each room. They don't bother me too much as they're so spindly and there is nothing to them. The ones I really have a problem with are the big black ones, with the slightly thicker legs. I wish I had taken a photo of the one on Saturday night, it was like ones you see in pet shops, but it was a grey colour. It's body was like 2 grapes, and the legs were kind of flat and thick. Arghh. Personally, I don't see the problem in killing them. Culling is used all over the world to control populations. If there are too many seals eating all the fish, they kill them off. If there are too many rabbits damaging crops, they kill them off. I know and understand that it's not nice, and I actually disagree with some of it, however, spiders cause a problem for me, so I'm simply trying to remove the problem.0

I understand that humans have had a huge effect on the populations of other species - for example, we learnt to farm and the field mouse was quids in. As farming increased so did field mice, the owls got more mice so they increased in numbers too. This happens with all manner of creatures.
Did you know that the UK used to be home to Polar bears, wolves, lions, hippoes, and all manner of creatures.
This has absolutly nothing to do with the original postings by the way.
Do you think that humanity is in some way responsible for the numbers of spiders in a similar way? eg. more waste, more flys, more spiders? or perhaps more pollution, more global warming, warmer winters and so more insects?
On culling - perhaps they could introduce it to Great Yarmouth (where I used to live), on the people.0
