I've had two people collect large items from me, the first one came in a hatchback type car to collect an aviary cage. The cage was flat pack except for two panels which couldn't be dismantled as the bolts were rusty - which I explained before colecting that she would need to come in a roomy car or van as the pieces were connected in an L shape. She had travelled a fair distance and her boot was full of cr*p that could have easily been left at home. We spent about half an hour pushing and pulling between all the rubbish to get the panels in and I was getting worried that we were going to have to admit defeat, but in the end she just closed them in on themselves - rather her than me!

The 2nd time, I sold a single futon chair/bed. I told the chap that he needed to ensure that he had enough space in the back of his car and that I had eaily transported it in my car (VW Polo) with the rear seats down. He told me it was ok as he had a Focus. Nevertheless he turned up with the seats all still upright and then tried to put the futon in the boot after putting the matteress part on the back seats. It wasn't until I told him that "it would be easier if he put the seats down" that he actually did. His comments were "oh, I hadn't realised it was going to be that big". It's not like I didn't give the measurements or tell him how it fitted in relation to my own (small) car!!!

i've been a bad seller by accident. sold a pair of 'satin' pj's because they were shiny like satin without reading the label. the buyer got them and wanted to know why i thought they were satin because the label said polyester. i sheepishly had to say I thought satin was shiny like the PJ's but did she want a full refund with my humblest and bimboest apologies. luckily she was very kind and didnt mind at all but i felt like a right eejit!

I have always found that if you take your mistakes on the chin the buyers are usually very lovely about it and I've made a few crackers of mistakes along the way.

I think satin is actually a type of weave, but we tend to think of the satin made of silk.
  • Well, from the otherside. I recently split my boots and as I do a lot of walking wanted a new pair of DM's. Did a search and went through the list...opened up one listing that said Doc Martin Boots or similar.

Thought bit of useless listing, no size, no colour etc So I emailed the seller only to be told...

...it was a book about the history of Dr. Martin Boots:rotfl:and had been listed under books.:embarasse Quick appology, seller was very kind.

I cracked a hilarious joke that "My mum has given me a detailed lesson in looking at clothing labels" after the PJ fiasco. I think offering her the refund was the key, which I did because i knew i was 100% wrong (even accidentally).

Radley bag story is really funny!

After setting up a new ebay account I thought I might aswell "get some use out of it" so on the recent free listing weekend I listed some used socks (c/w photo)

    Got this question "Beautiful...lovely feet..do they smell..want them" :p
That's the nicest thing someone's ever said about my feet!:rotfl:

And just got a message from the winning bidder "hi mate, just paid for these socks, can i have them worn and unwashed? are you going to be selling anymore for a fixed price of say a fiver a pair?" :p

Wonder if I could do swaps with a female selling well worn shoes... ;) :A
