when our dog had to be put to sleep in 2000 we vowed never to have another,a year later we had another as the house wasnt the same without a dog,we thought we could still hear the pattering of her steps in the kitchen,we are now the proud owners of 3 cute cavalier king charles who we love to bits,(and they are not child substitutes as we have 4 kids),when i was a kid we buried my beloved dog in the garden ,to this day i regret we did this(i wouldnt let the vet take her i played my mum up)as my parents moved from that house and i still wonder is she still there i think the nicest option is cremation,and i would also be hurt on the movement of the thread as our 3 dogs are regarded as a special part of our FAMILY!0

I'm sorry for all of you who have lost pets or may be coming close to that stage. That's a big reason why I decided not to get another pet. I find it too difficult to handle the hard stuff. Pathetic as it may sound (and I'm actually laughing when I'm writing this) I went to pieces when our hamster died a few years back. The thing followed me about like a dog and used to sit on my shoulder and I'd carry it about with me. The vet waived all fees probably because she thought it better just to get me out of the surgery! (Weeping woman etc
)
The best of it is, I hated the little furry creature with a vengeance when my son brought it home one day and I threatened to put it in the garden. It wasn't long before it became mine though and not the kids' anymore.
I was a little surprised to see so many burying larger type pets like cats and dogs in your gardens. I thought this wasn't allowed, I'm sure the council had some ban or other on doing this, but perhaps it was only in certain areas? I must go see if I can find anything about it.
Davidboy, as Pink says, please don't be upset at the thread being moved. The Board Guide would not have meant to cause any offence and I'm sure they would be upset to think they have caused you to feel this way. I suppose that there isn't really an ideal place for it to be, even although your dog is your family, technically the Family Board wasn't really meant for this type of thread. Having said that, I completely understand why you feel the I wanna Board isn't suitable either -I think this is exactly the type of reason why we need a dedicated pet board.
I sincerely hope you don't have to face this situation too soon. Thoughts are with you......and with all those who have lost a pet.Herman - MP for all!

Pink - sorry have to disagree with you, this is not the place for this thread, and would like it moved eleswhere please, I notice the MSE guide who moved it, has not owned up to it or said they have moved it as they normally do.
I really do not see why pets things cannot stay as a family thing, without a better place...why not. If it's about pet insurance then would agree, but not about this.
Please observe peoples feelings.What goes around - comes around

Just want to chip in and say that I agree that moving this thread to "I wanna" isn't right - it was in the correct place to start with. The OP is interested in doing the right thing for his beloved pet, and how to deal with the practicalities at which will be an incredibly emotional and painful time for his whole family, of which his dog is a member.0

Davidboy,
Please tell me where I have failed to observe your feelings. I feel that that comment is unfair.
I would be obliged if you would re-read my post. I did not say that this was the place for this thread. I said that there was no obvious place for threads about pets to be placed.
As for no reply from the board guide who moved your thread.......they may not have been online since you posted your comments about them on this thread.
As ever, if you have a problem with a post or any other mse member please contact !!!!!!

Pink - I think the tone of your last message is justifying enough the take account of peoples feelings comment I made. It was not in efffect directed at you personnally, but to the MSE guide who moved it, but if the cap fits!!...
And no, I don't want to report it. I mearly asked if the thread could be moved as this was not the correct place for it, read the replies, people are supporting me here.
I really think you are out of order with your comments now!
Second thoughts, stuff where it is...I'm just not interested, more important things to worry about!!What goes around - comes around

Unfortunately Davidboy, neither is the Marriage, Families and Relationships Board suitable as that particular board is about moneysaving for marriage, families and relationships and as such all threads that don't fall into the moneysaving category get moved elsewhere.0

Like I said Edinburghlass, neither is here the right place...I give up!What goes around - comes around

Davidboy,
I appologise if the tone of my last message upset you. It really was not intended that way.
Please do explain what I said that was 'out of order', as I really don't understand where you are coming from.

I moved the thread out of the family board for the following reasons, the 'Marriage, Relationships & Families' board is for moneysaving queries/tips and ideas that relate to the Family etc,
as Martin and the abcon team have said on other threads this site is primarily a moneysaving site and the Arms and Discussions boards were set up as the only places to discuss non moneysaving issues but Martin has asked that even Discussion Time be mainly moneysaving, that there are plenty of other forums on the web that cover a range of subjects.
So your thread was moved not because I didn't consider your pet a member of your family but because it wasn't a money based issue,
I did consider moving it to the Discussion board but your original post did seem to be asking for advice on services;
'Is there someone you can call for help?'
so as the 'I Wanna' board is frequented by some of the most helpful people from MSE who often go out of their way to answer peoples questions I hoped someone here would be able to answer yours, in fact you have had some great advice since it was moved here,
with a number of boards to keep an eye on as well as a family and a full-time job I can't always send a pm to explain everything I do, I did leave the redirect in the family board so in effect your thread could be accessed directly from there as before or viewed on this board which may have gained you more answers,
we are as it says in our signatures, volunteers!
at no time did I refer to your dog as an 'it', the 'it' in the description of this board refers to the item or service you are asking for, and I believed you were asking for information on which services were available to you when the time comes.
I have answered this thread as soon as I was made aware of your posts on it, I was working a night shift last night and have delayed going to my bed to try to explain.
Off to bed now but please could I ask that if people disagree with any actions taken by Board Guides or the abuse team that they pm us personally for an explanation or email abuse, most queries can be easily sorted without causing ill feeling on the boards, we are not perfect and will always try to put right any mistakes we may have made, thankyou
