If you can muster the energy, I'd write to TT and complain about the bottles! Hopeless!Signature removed for peace of mind0

yes i find the TT lids a nightmare to get off, and i have bought the TT breast pump which is absolutely useless, i spoke to a breastfeeding counsellor today who told me that i bought the worst pump! i'm going to get another pump tomorrow, she recommended avent but first i'm going to look into hiring an electric one from the NCT, i got the number for that today. she seemed to think you should be able to pump using one hand - not so with the TT pump!
i threw away the receipt for the bottles and the bin men came this morning so i don't suppose i can return the bottles. i've thrown away the packaging too. the numbers are still legible on some of them - the ones that came free in the steriliser and the one that came in the breastpump - it's the other 4 i sent my husband to buy when i realised i'd be bottlefeeding that have no writing on anymore.
i didn't realise i could use the TT teats with avent bottles, that would be good because roo seems to have such trouble with his tongue and the TT teats are the only ones he's managed so far. hopefully i can also use the discs. microwave bottles are a great idea but i also have a pump to sterilise 4-6 times a day so it makes sense to put the bottles in with it. i like the TT steriliser but will be getting avent bottles and probably the avent pump (where did i put my boots card?)
infacol seems to be making a big difference but he is still awake at night and still has some tummy pain but not as much as before the infacol. the health visitor thinks it is colic because it doesn't happen 24 hours a day, it starts early evening. spud was like it 24 hours a day, roo is only like it for 12 hours so it's more likely that it is colic with roo. she's keeping an eye on him though because he keeps getting a rash so he might be sensitive to the formula. he's started being sick today and his squeaky noises are getting worse,
i looked in asda yesterday for omneo comfort, i remember it being mentioned in a previous thread. it was £7.21 i think in asda. it says you need a higher teat flow because the milk is thicker, so at the weekend i will be buying medium teats and a tub of omneo comfort. i like the way the tub has a ledge for levelling off the scoop, very handy. it also says the colour and consistency of the dirty nappies will change - in what way? i was a bit wary of that! :rotfl:
Because our girls were in the NICU unit for a few weeks we were lent an electric pump and yes they are a hell of a lot easier than the consumer hand ones. Unfortunately due to a lack of resources we had to give it back sooner than we would have liked hence the TT pump.
We are still using the TT and Avent bottles with TT teats, they fit fine with either the TT or Avent pump in the TT steriliser. It's a never ending chore sorting them out though, don't you find three hours now is no way as long as three hours last year? ;-)
As to poo changing colour and consistency well we had absolutely all sorts before we had to go to formula/EBM from just breast and now we have absolutely all sorts :-) Looking around the web resources we have pretty much come to the conclusion the range of what is normal is huge and that as long as the girls are hungry, responsive when awake, not running a high fever or screaming the house down 24hrs a day, then every thing is pretty much OK
The worst thing we have found with the Nutriprem we get on prescription is they seem to have more tummy ache and seem to have to strain a bit more to have a clearout. Pretty much common for formula fed babies according to the Health Visitor.

THe medella electric pump is a good one and I used it for a while last time. It does all the work for you and you can get it cheap on ebay, otherwise its about £30.:heart2:I have a child with autism.:heart2:0

One of our twins seemed to suffer badly from colic, so we tried the Dr Browns bottles without success...
Someone suggested that we took her to see a cranial osteopath. What a difference! She slept through the night after her first treatment. After the follow up sessions, her crying was much reduced, and her colic symptoms virtually disappeared.
Might be worth a go?0 -
Another vote for Avent but my daughter wasn't that bad (I found dentinox colic drops worked better than infacol for her). And my friend has reported success with Dr Brown for her very colicky baby but they are very pricey.
To echo Squiffy, I've also heard fantastic things about cranial osteopathy from friends. My own osteopath was telling me about it and said that they can get miraculous results, plus it can be carried out at any age.0 -
we saw a chiropractor when we thought junior Tide had colic like symptoms, turns out he had a stiff neck from a dodgy birth and ventouse delivery all along. May still ahve had colic but also seems he was just getting a stiff neck by evening! Been fine since he had some treatment though(and was exceptionally cheap at £4 a session as we have a lot of chiropractic colleges nearby so the final year students do 'on the job' training with experienced chiropractors)0

If you do decide to get an Avent breast pump (very effective and easy to use but a bit fiddly to assemble until you get used to it!) check out Sainsbury's.
Apparantly, they are reducing Avent stuff to just a few pounds (including the pumps.)

I had a problem with Boots bottles - the measurements came off within a week. I wrote to complain and they sent me a £15 gift card so it is well worth contacting TT.
I am a full supporter of Avent, had no problems with their pump or bottles. Changed to Boots teats once she needed the faster flow - purely because they were cheaper!2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
Just to say that if you are considering buying Avent bottles then try your local sainsburys as they are reducing their avent stuff. My local sainsburys had sterilisers, bottles, breast shields and those milk collector thingys that you wear under your bra all reduced. I had TT with my kids have had no probs. But if i have anymore then i'll be going for avent.0
