in an attempt to bring this thread back on topic, mr broderick, may i ask what approach you plan to take with your own offspring once they reach their 20s and are thinking of flying the nest? free/subsidised board and lodgings? a finacial handout to get them on the ladder? a kick up the bum and a messgae to get on with it and make their own way in the world?know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

Its a good question, probably the 1st suggestion.0 -

Surely you aren't going to deny your children the life experience gained by 'roughing it' (proclaimed by none other than yourself).
So either you need to get busy with producing five more offspring or you need to collaborate with a family or two with a few kids to make this experience possible.
Seriously though, are you going to restrict it to a single bed or will you stretch to a double? Will the the girls have to wear the boys clothes and vice versa or will you relax the rules a little in these modern times.
Remember, any relaxation of the 'rules' reduces the important benefits of roughing it.0 -

Then maybe this wouldn't do my career very well rocking into work after having no sleep!
Life work balance. I meant barbecues and house parties at the weekends... professional house sharing is nothing like student house sharing in my experience. I would not shar with a student as a working person. No way lol, too crazy.

Thanks p_d
People in general are going to make assumptions on your life based on your living arrangements, but then there are always folk who judge others by their own morals. I have a great social life and I'm not eating into the parent's retirement. Sharing with students wouldn't put me up nor down (heck I would drink them under the table) but I don't want to co-own or rent.
I do have a house it was bought this time last year, but a friend actually lives in it, so I've been starting from scratch again. I could join a MFW challenge but the rate is 5.49% fixed for 25 years, and it's portable, so I'm keeping it just now.
Buying a place is a big decision. The housing market in Scotland (which is quite corrupt imo) is different to England. Property is continuing to rise here and I don't see a crash happening in the short-medium term. The offers over system is a nightmare and unless you take a 120% mortgage you need a bit of money behind you.pavlovs_dog wrote: »rest assured T.x that not all MSErs are that rude or obnoxious. welcome to the site :wave:MFiT-T6: #38
