I dont think this printer has chipped cartridges, these are like the original HP/Lexmark types with the print head in the cartridge not the printer.

Epson and Canon fitted chips on the ink tank type cartridges (no head), which were easier/cheaper to manufacture, The chips were meant to discourage/prevent copies, but the chip manufacturers sold to anyone who wanted them.:T

There is a cheap remanufactured system for the CL50 which may possibly fit ( fits MP220) as I think it is the same as the CL40 which is the high ink capacity version of the CL37
It is a head that has replaceable tanks, the starter kit has 1 head and 3 tanks for £9.47 which equals a cartridge cost of £3+ a pop
    Colour (51) is £10,41

Unfortunately out of stock but maybe available elsewhere.

    Now £37.99 on Amazon.

Was going to get one, reserved one last night when Amazon was showing them as £34.41 and printed all the stuff off last night on my old faithful which performed perfectly well despite previous problems...so I have now decided not to bother.
This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

Mine arrived today from Amazon and I have just posted off the cashback form. It was really easy to set up but is quite large and doesn't fit on the shelf of my desk:mad: . still never mind. It was a bargain. If anyone finds cheap cartridges please post.

I used to use the same system years ago on an HP printer and it was no different from buying genuine HP throw away or messily refill cartridges. I think this is where Epson got the idea of their cheaper ink tanks. The worry (and HPs excuse for changing print heads each refill) originally that the heads would not last as long as they did.

I would assume it is a US idea/company, and Canon will try to suppress it as they sell the printers at a loss hoping to make their millions from selling you expensive ink. There will be doubts about print quality and I suppose the acid test will be photo print quality. Plus continuity of supply, but the tanks will be easier to refill yourself

However SVP customers gave it a 10 out of 10 rating

Yes, but its only had 1 review. Now back in stock, its is the same cart for MP210-PG40, CL 41(high capacity) but they only appear to do the black cart.

Apologies, not so cheap as first thought. We were misled, the prices they displayed were actually for the refills and NOT the starter kits.

So black becomes around £7 to start and £5 a refill, colour £9 for first 3 then £5+.

They do contain a lot of ink though, Black 22ml, colour 21ml. the starter cartridges CL37 and CL38 only contain 11 and 9 ml respectively. so you pay half and get twice the ink.

The starter kits are £21ish for black £28ish for colour, so a much more difficult decision to make as you are then making a commitment and quality and continuity of supply become an issue.

I will probably refill my black (DIY) and try this Colour system as 21 ml for £5 is a hell of a lot more ink than 9ml for £12ish

They do sell the colour system too.

Ok, so I bought 1 of these on Amazon and sent off the cashback form, OH thought it was a good deal too so he did the same.

Just checked our bank accounts and they've taken the money, £34.41 and then they've given it back again!! In both of our accounts:confused:

So you got it for free? Or Amazon just cancel your order?
