PS please dont keep on about PC worlds price promise re this printer, as another thread was pulled-and i think this was the reason.
Err No. It was not pulled and it is OK to mention the PCW price-match policy.
It was merged with this thread by the mods, purely because it was duplicating this printer and taking up space unnecessarily on the board titles pages. There is also an older pre Xmas thread that has been revived by this current £20 cash back, but the title has a higher price, so should disappear naturally.

Anyone found a source of cheap compatibles for this printer. I have checked my usual source of ink, www.inkemporium.co.uk and the model is not listed.0

Thanks to OP and to the person who mentioned PC world.
I bought this today from PC world for £30.96. Loads in stock. Just need to do the £20 claim now!0 -
I have a PIXMA (although not this one) and re: the ink, you can get cheaper cartridges, but when mine came, you have to dig the chip out of the original cartridge and put it in the new ones (not even sure if this is legal ?) anyway, regardless of the legalities, it was fiddly - one of the little chips flew out and went down a crack in my floorboards, and some of the other chips would not work. I am sure someone with a bit more patience and practice could probably do it, but thought it worth a mention.0

My local ink re-filler insists that Canon cartridges if refilled DONT need the chip re-set-it may say "low ink", but dosent stop the printer.(I know the above post referres to fresh non branded carts,0
