eon electic & gas bill problem
Options
I went to set up new direct debit today after being convinced to go back to eon for beoth elec and gas.
The person on the phone said i owed £978.00 and had to pay £456. a month to catch up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was with them from sept 07 - jan 08, paying £101.00 monthly direct debit for both.
No-one is in my house all day, i don not use water heater, dryer & i dont have any heat, but 1 gas fire.
The only readings i have are
Today
Elec: 93894; 57619; 36274
Gas: 4208
27/01/08
Elec: 92072; 57317; 34930
Gas 4069
oes any one know how to work out roughly how much these 2 months add up to, so i can try and find out how i used £1478.00 in 5 months.
This would be very much appreciated.

To work it out, multiply the amount of kwh you have used by your unit rates (found on your bill). Don't forget to take into account the primary unit and secondary unit threshold.
So in your case, Gas - 4383kwh used and Elec - 1822kwh, 302kwh, 1344kwh used - if you have three meter readings on your meter, don't forget to check which rate is for which as you will be charged different prices for each.
Or alternatively, just post your unit rates here and the Energy Man will work it out!0 -
Not sure if this is what is needed?

Don't you have your old bills? Perhaps on-line? You need to check your previous bills to make sure there is no error with the reads - like a digit incorrect somewhere.
Then work out your usage per 1/4 and see if there is a MASSIVE difference. Obviously winter/summer will be different but not to the extreme of £1k.
You say you are going back to Eon - who were you with - were all bills upto date with them? Suppliers will not let you change if you have a debt.
Good luck

I was with eon til jan, then went with swalec for a month, but decided to go back to eon........
I`ve paid all final bills with swalec,
and this debt occured in the sept/jan period.
so why did they let me move with that much owing?????
I`m currently trying to remember my log in with eon online£2008 in 2008 (187) £186.

been checking monthly bills.
This £1000 debt occured in december alone, where eon estimated my usage.
Their estimate is higher than my numbers taken 2 days ago????????
I`m ringing them up monday, see what they are gonna do about it.£2008 in 2008 (187) £186.

Why have you assumed an Imperial gas meter? Most are metric!
With 3 electricity readings presumably it is an E10 tariff or a variation of that.
It is highly unlikely that the OP has used approx 3,500kWh of electricity and gas! so meter readings are suspect.0 -

There are still quite a few 4-dials out there! Ok so maybe 1548kwh then, if meter is metric.
If it's an E10 then she wouldn't be able to go onto the online tariff. Online tariff is only for E7 and standard. Unless it was a 2 rate E10 meter but being billed on an E7 tariff, but then again how would you explain the third meter reading?0 -

In post #4 the OP indicates she is only charged at a single rate for electricity(plus a daily standing charge)
I suspect the property was on E10 - possibly before gas was connected?? - and now is on a standard on-line tariff - they simply add the consumption from the 3 meters together. (I have a similar arrangement for my old E7 meters)0 -
Hello,
I switched to Eon last year and received my first dual fuel bill in Dec from June and it was £1800 near enough!!! When I stopped panicking and checked the readings, they'd obviously transposed a digit. They immedietely credited my account and it was fine. They were very helpful so give them a call.0
