Water filter jugs

We've had a Brita water jug for years and it's in constant use. The filters are changed irregularly but it doesn't seem to make much difference to the quality. The jug is kept in the fridge, as filtered water doesn't keep well at room temperature. Bugs will profligate.
Our tap water not only taste but smells of chlorine, yuk! Wouldn't go back.:wave:0 -
We had a water taste problem recently, so bad that more coffee/tea was being thrown away than drunk. We spoke to Yorkshire Water who said they had been advised to up the chlorine content as they had been doing work on the ssupply. It wouldn't hurt you they advised, but not pleasant.
We got our Brita filter jug out of our touring caravan, and immediately the taste disappeared. We continued to use it, and noticed that the scale in our kettle stopped building up.
Now converted, brought one with us out here.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
We got a filter jug very soon after moving in as we have very hard water in our area and our kettle was really scaling up and in the morning you could taste the chlorine in the water. Now we have a jug in the fridge which we fill from the filter jug which stands on the bench near the taps. I definitely notice a difference in the water taste.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650

septemberblues thanks, I've just smashed my brita one last week (nothing is ever the same once dropped on a granite floor - doh!) so I have ordered the wilkinsons one. I do find a big difference with filtered water. Especially want one now for the caravan. One day I might be more organised...........

I love Yorkshire water:happyhear IMO, you need the hardness to make a good cup of tea
Yorkshire Water also supplied us with free drinking bottles (one of my very first freebies from this site) which we fill up from the tap
We have an older thread on water filters, so I'll add yours to it.
