Hi - not an expert but .....

My first question would be whether it is really WHITE GOLD

24ct gold is pure gold and yellow and too soft for making jewellery.

9ct is 9 parts gold to 15 parts other metals (which give it strength and make it harder wearing). White gold was usually made up with silver and Rose gold was made up with copper.
18ct gold obviously has a higher content of gold to the other metal.

These days "white gold" is often yellow gold that has ?rhodium plating which will wear off. If it is a true white gold then you shouldnt have a problem.

Personally tho, I would look for an antique ring from a smaller independant jeweller as you will get far better quality for far less money. When I got engaged 20+ years ago I had a new 9ct trilogy diamond ring for about £250. When it was stolen I replaced it with an almost identical second hand one, that was 18ct gold with a platinum setting - cost £200 valuation £750, I know which one I preferred.
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!

Before you decide, try a couple of independent shops and second hand ones. You'll know when you see it. If you're not sure about these 2 they're probably not for you.

You'll be wearing it for the rest of your life so it doesn't matter if it takes a while to sort it out now!

I would definately go for second hand, if you go to your local auction or antique fair you will be able to pick up and amazing ring for the money you would have spend on the new ones you have listed

gold in the second hand market (plain gold with no stones etc) is usually sold by the weight, you buy a new gold band in the high street for £100 and it is litterally only worth £10 on the second hand market.

There are lots of great antique fairs about, you will find them cheaper that antique shops, have a look here for some of the largest antique fairs about the UK http://www.dmgantiquefairs.com/ you will have a great day out even if you don't find a ring

Sorry if I seem old fashioned but why are you replacing your wedding ring and why are you getting one with jewels on it? I'm not meaning to be rude but have things changed that much?

I am replacing my wedding ring because my ring no longer fits me - well I can get it on but it hurts a lot. Had a baby 3 months ago and my fingers don't seem to have gone back down to the same size and as I hope to be pregnant again soon I won't be able to wear my ring for quite a while unless it is made bigger. I took it to 2 jewellers and they said they wouldn't dare resize it because it would probably make the diamonds fall out. They also said that there is a chip in the shank and that might make it crack if they try to stretch it.
I don't see what the problem is with having one with jewels in it. Is that a tradition then? Just feel that as it's something I intend on wearing forever then I should like it. I don't wear any other rings except my engagement ring which I wear on my other hand, so wanted one that looked pretty.

Sorry, didn't mean to pry about your reasons for changing it; I put on weight after getting married as well! I haven't ever heard of a wedding ring with jewels in it before, but I'm probably old fashioned. I think that the idea of a plain band is so that you don't ever have to take it off as you would with a jewelled ring. I hope you find something you like.

I understand your reasoning. I haven't been able to get my wedding ring on since I got pregnant with my 13 month old because I put weight on. After only 3 months though, don't worry. You'll probably lose the weight again in time. Maybe if you're desperate to wear one in the meantime you could buy a cheapie one rather than replace the one from your wedding?

I note that most people have said to go for ernest jones, however my engagement ring came from there and we had loads of problems. The original ring had a small dent in it - when it went in to be repaired they made it worse - twice. I ended up having to have a different ring as they stopped making the original style. Just make sure you check the ring before you leave the shop. The ring was £500 so not like it was the cheapest of rings.

is there any jewellers near you who make rings?? all my rings were made by a jeweller much cheaper and better quality than High streets. h samuel, ernest jones and leslie davies are all part of the signet group, h samuel tend to do 9 carat and diamonds in more ranges.

The first one is 0.15 points of a carat.

The second one is only 0.10 of a carat.

Not disagreeing, but I would like to know how you decided that?
