If you really have lost lots of petrol and have a written record of them having looked and found no fault I'd be after petrol money too.

thanks everyone for your advice ive just been up to the garage and spoke to them and they say they wont do anything free of charge as its now out of warranty, thought they would say that! its terrible that they can get away with this i wasnt wanting full compensation but just a bit of le-way on charges for the fact that they didnt fix it when i reported it the times in the past,he read out what work had been done on the car and they hadnt even reported the fact that i was complaining of the petrol leak so ive got nothing on them for it,it just said they replaced the transponder for erratic fuel gauge,
thanks again everyone but i dont think theres anything i can do now as it hasnt been reported for a fuel leak!

is this for real, you have been driving a car for 4 years, its had a petrol leak for 4 years, and now that it is out of warranty for a year you now want it fixed because you are worried about a fire starting,i would have been worried 4 years ago!

yeah i was worried thats why i reported it twice 4 years ago within weeks of each other, i have only recently realised how bad the leak was when i filled it up for the second time the other night and saw the petrol gushing out from underneath,i have never filled it right up (until the other night) thats why over the 4 years i havent seen it leaking out so much. both times i took it in they have not fixed it, they havent even put it on the paperwork or system the reason why it was i was taking it to the garage about the petrol leak! they said they changed the transponder but didnt even look at the tank according to the paperwork. but it was the leak why i was taking it in for which was the most important thing the petrol going down on the gauge was obviously tying in with the fact that the tank was leaking.

if it was so obvious you should have stated the obvious to them.
