Rant alert!
Today at Boots my SA, who had been very lovely and nice to the people before me, got a little put out and snarly at me because she didn't listen to me and seemed to have no concept that customers use coupons and also organize their purchases to maximum savings, as in to get a till spit. Because it's not like she checks out dozens of customers a day or anything.
And of course there were two problems with my purchase, one her fault, one mine. And she got all confused and a little huffy. The first problem: I had two expert products and two 100 point vouchers. I held one product (the cheaper one) aside and told her I'd like a separate checkout as I wanted to use vouchers with both Expert products. She said oh you don't have to do that. I asked if you could use 100 pt vouchers with two products in one purchase, and she pleasantly said, "We'll see." So I thought that meant there's no problem if you can't. So she rings it up and it only lets her use one voucher. I say, well then can you delete the cheaper item (the mitt). She says no, that's the item she used the voucher on! I had no idea it got applied to a particular item when there were two expert products in your checkout, and then of course she couldn't delete that one item, she had to delete the whole sale! I told her I wanted the more expensive item -- the shave cream -- in with my other purchases as that would give me a 5 pound total and I'd get a voucher for hair care. She said I had her all confused! How could an SA not know that customers want a till spit! Are those of us on this forum the only ones using coupons? Does she never see it otherwise?
Then I made it worse because the Trevor Sorbie shampoo I had grabbed was the wrong one for the BOGOF coupon I had. I hadn't read it closely enough and thought any TS shampoo and conditioner would do. So I said I didn't want it, and I think she may have had trouble getting that off too. She may have thought I was a con artist trying to confuse her to pull off some kind of hustle, which is ludicrous given that the only hustle would've been getting the wrong version of shampoo! She repeatedly told me I should ask sales help downstairs to help me find the Shampoo that was for the coupon. As if once I was told that it had to be the one in the picture, I was too dumb to find the one in the picture!
Sorry about the rant, I just wanted to vent. I'm getting really Bootsed out though, thanks to hassle from a few SAs who seem to act like I'm trying to put something past them when I'm using completely legitimate coupons. God knows what would happen if I ever tried to get a MF GWP (no way in heck I'm trying that); they'd probably have me in handcuffs! I'm going to use my last few coupons and the S&G vouchers a Bootser is sending me (IF these SAs will let me combine points vouchers) and my accrued points, then I'm staying the heck out of Boots except to pick up prescriptions. And if they give me any hassle on any of my last few vouchers, I won't even get my prescriptions there anymore and will make a complaint to CS.
But if it all goes smoothly on my last spends, I'll probably calm down and take advantage of major glitches just for the joy of sticking it to Boots. No more going into stores 3 times a week in any event, there's just too much opportunity for problems on checkout. <sigh>
