...snip...Re SS tills. We dont have them in our Boots but I'm sure they will be monitored by a camera somewhere in the shop(check the ceiling!). I never use them in Asda after someone stole dvds from my bag whilst I was getting a SA to help with the card payment. They were able to see what happened in minute detail from the cameras recordings. The camera was quite a long way away on the ceiling(a half ball black thing).

I think it would also depend on how the GWP was displayed and ticketed at the counter. If it just said "Free Gift" then you could argue that you thought it was a freebie. If it clearly stated that there should be a total spend or a minimum number of purchases well, you're on shakey ground.

I'm not presuming to comment on the morality of any of this...I am after all the person with two S&G "free" bags sitting through in my bedroom! But I''m just saying Be Careful, Ladies......

My OH looked specifically on the roof and stated there were none in that area of the store that could look at the SS tills.
If there were cameras, i would have probably still done it as it all goes through the motions of a bonafide transaction, i mean you could even pretend to put money in the slot if you wish! :p

I'll tell you when i point blank wouldn't do it on them,... and that's if they could see the transactions going through there and then (like at Tesco and Asda etc) I specifically checked for this and there is no capability for this on them specific SS tills. TBH, it's pretty much perfect....
It's hard to decribe unless you can see them yourself, but fellow Manchester Bootsers will know what i mean about just how secluded they are.
Plus i have never, ever had an SA around them, if they walk around to sort out someones erractic till, i just wait near the sandwiches and peruse.....;)

I do appreciate your concerns on this, especially you Valk-scot, as it's like you're all my protective aunts looking out for me, and others on here :D
But whereas you may feel more comfortable on a manned till, (for your own, possibly sensible reasons) i prefer to do it through the SS. Each to their own i guess, and of course, with different levels of "can you sleep at night" ness.....

I have had my fill now on them particular GWP's now though and won't be getting anymore of them. Albeit, as a future precaution that has been enlightened by some on here.., I will take note to see if they improve the security on them, which they possibly may if they read this forum. In that case, ah well - cest la vie...it was good while it lasted. If not, i would not hesitate to try out other things through them. Just my morals i guess.:p

On a side note, it actually DID say free gift, just that on its own, and not a mention of a minimum spend. Some on their own, some with MF lipglosses stuck on them (now these ones were obviously priced, around £13 i think...) But the others, not a jot. Though this may have changed now, please let me know if it has fellow Mancs.

Hope you all have great days x

Just back from tc, got free toothbrush and 4 mf gwp (nails) bought a few other bits and bobs, went thro ss tills....snip
Some of mf gwp had 2 lipglosses attatched and handwritten label with price on:confused: . I presume this has to be manually inputted. So i didn't pick these up, obviously.

Just as i said re lipglosses! Please see my above post. And see how easy them tills are?! Its hard explaining this to others, but you getting 4 just goes and proves it. Told ya ;) I love them tills.
  • Happy easter weekend to you all!

    SuperKeenMoneySaver here:

went to liverpool street station yesterday and they have SELF SCAN CHECK-OUTS!! I was sooo happy! Went to double-check whether S&G Clean of England had been reduced to £1.20 but sadly not here. NO MF gift sets to be found. Went to the Estee lauder counter and asked whether they were still doing the mascara exchange but they said no!

Went to london colney yesterday evening and the lovely estee lauder gave me my free sample (courtesy of glamour mag) and she let me exchange an old mascara for another (different) sample! Very happy! Also managed to get:

    Shop 1:

    eyelure eye jewels set £2
    no7 mens face wash £6
Olay total effects hand cream £4.97
    Total to pay: £5 + 350points + £2 till spit received!

Used: £3 off no7 mens, 250pts on no7 from GWP, 100pts on no7 men from mag, £5 off Olay mosturiser PC voucher.

    Shop 2:

17 precision eye liner black 58p
17 precision eye liner grey 58p
    17 lip glaze

    Total to pay: 58p!! :D
Used: free lip glaze voucher from mag

    Shop 3:

    JF 5ml at £1.99
    Total: FREE
Used: £2 till spit - which i didn't realise till i was in the car but the SA gave back to me!

Might call up CS again to tell them how wonderful the staff in London Colney are! :D

Off to watford today...once SuperKeenMoneySaver Snr gets off the phone!!Update: she is now off the phone!lol

I'm lovin the lip gloss from black mf gwp, it's a lot lighter and silkier than the No 7 gwp one which is quite thick and sticky.;)

This has to be my best haul, i am tidying my flat and venture into a small space where bags and boxes get hidden to create an illusion of tidyness, i find 4 200ml shampoo 7 200ml conditioner 4 packs of razors 6 fcuk no2 oh and bros favourite and 2 botanics golden glow.

I am quite excited as i thought i had run out of shampoo

I think oh may have a point that there are too many boots bags if all this lot can go unmissed. It was all on sale though.

Ah well back to the real boots tom to spend real money at least my housework is being rewarding.

I wish i could find half price versace crystal gift sets its my favourite.
Anyone spotted them in the yorkshire area??

Well it'd be rude not too. Got home to find DD1 had stashed a pack of pocket tissues in her bag whilst i wasn't looking so now i'm definitely going to be on crimewatch.:o Although technically she's a minor and doesn't know any better, she just loves Bootsing like her mummy and forgets sometimes (just sometimes) you actually have to pay!!

was along the lines of JF product proudct for 1.49 and there was 100pts making it 49p.

can you tell me where i can get the gwp vouchers??

    TIA

The message poster sort of made a typo -- she meant that the JF hairspray was 2.49, and the 100 points is actually for expert products; there isn't such an offer on the JF. HTH

Actually, I suspect the OP meant that she used one of the £2 off haircare till spits, so the JF product at £2.49 only cost 49p. See first post for details - there are 2 JF products hairspray and serum around this price.
