I was in my local store on Wednesday looking at the 17 display and one of the sa's cam accross and said to the other girls that all the perfume gift sets were now half price. So I ran over behind the assistants in time to hear the perfume sa pointing out all the good offers. I got Beckam gift set of perfume, candle and bodlotion for £14.50, Burberry Touch Eau De Parfum and body lotion for £12.99, Lacoste Inspiration Eau De Parfum and body Lotion for £10.99 ( with a free 15ml bottle or Lacoste Pink) Versace Bright Crystal set £10.99, Very Irrestible Mens Set £10.99 and Dolce and Gabana touch of Blue mens sat £11.33. I also got 2 17 concealers and a Lip Glaze for £2.29 on 3 for 2 using the Lip Glaze mag voucher. Now I have 2 fathers Day pressies sorted and loads of perfume too. Great shop. The assistant said they were just trying to get rid of them and it was shop to shop. All the assistants were buting them so I dont think they lasted long. I also used some 50 point vouchers from the ACM FOR EXTRA POINTS.
  • Hiya,
I tried one yesterday, remarkably similar appearance/feel to sandpaper!:rotfl:

OH said I could have had some of his fine sandpaper instead of buying the mitts:rotfl:

Will try and get a few toothbrushes too but like you Val a bit unsure about MF, would love one but don't think I'm brave enough, lol!!

If I could get to the one and only Boots round here that has them I'd have no worries about trying to get it through a manned till. What's the worst that can happen? The SA says no and I get to look a bit doozy and menopausaly confused, which I can manage with no effort at all. Nothing bad would happen.

It's quite possible she was checking on the correct returns procedure...when I worked in retail we used to keep the procedures pinned up on the wall of the coffee room.

I'm still bothered about the technicalities of the £0.00 purchases as well. After all if the reciept says "Receipt does state 0.00 and says MF GWP P13 NAIL. " then the arguement would be that you hadn't fulfilled your end of the contract ie made a purchase to get the gift with.

I think it would also depend on how the GWP was displayed and ticketed at the counter. If it just said "Free Gift" then you could argue that you thought it was a freebie. If it clearly stated that there should be a total spend or a minimum number of purchases well, you're on shakey ground.

I'm just thinking of what one could say if stopped by security that's all. If you use the SS tills and don't hand over a penny for anything then it's blindingly obvious that you knew you weren't paying for it. And if the display literature said "Free with £15/3 purchases" well I think a court would argue that you were knowingly attempting to defraud them. But if you either (a) put it through with other purchases then you could act dumb and say you hadn't understood the till message and ooops, you did think it was cheap for the lot or (b) go to a manned till and blame it firmly on the SA.

I'm not presuming to comment on the morality of any of this...I am after all the person with two S&G "free" bags sitting through in my bedroom! But I''m just saying Be Careful, Ladies. I'm not a lawyer but I suspect this is a pretty grey area legally, with quite a lot of potential for unpleasentness. And there may not be an obvious security camera around but the SS till log will be recording everything. Our local Tesco bank of SS tills has a computer with a split screen showing every item being rung through live as it happens, and an SA to monitor this. Plus who's to say the SS tills don't have integral cameras?

Must ask my DS. She IS a lawyer.

I got a box last week but bought a MF mascara I wanted anyway. I would not have felt "right" trying to get it without a MF purchase. I still feel a bit naughty for taking it. The ones in Glasgow are on the bottom of the MF stand, not really "on display".
Maybe we need to get a legal opinion on this right enough. I recently did my annual "legal acts" training at work and we include the consumer credit act. The fact the item is not displayed with a price or "offer" ticket might be interpreted as it not being "for sale". I often point out errors in shops(New Look H of Fraser and John Lewis recently) to staff re pricing being wrong but next time I'm in they are still wrong!!

Re SS tills. We dont have them in our Boots but I'm sure they will be monitored by a camera somewhere in the shop(check the ceiling!). I never use them in Asda after someone stole dvds from my bag whilst I was getting a SA to help with the card payment. They were able to see what happened in minute detail from the cameras recordings. The camera was quite a long way away on the ceiling(a half ball black thing).
I need to find a new hairdresser as my guy has gone to live abroad. Any Glasgow girls got any suggestions?

Hi there. Does anyone know of any vouchers/codes for ordering kitchen appliances or a free delivery code as the delivery is £19.99.
I've never ordered from them before - anyone had any dealings and if so, how good is the service.
    Thanks a lot.

Just back from tc, got free toothbrush and 4 mf gwp (nails) bought a few other bits and bobs, went thro ss tills, sa explaining re h&b doesn't come free till end as toothbrush doesn't come half price either till end. Also got jf serum with hc voucher.:j

Some of mf gwp had 2 lipglosses attatched and handwritten label with price on:confused: . I presume this has to be manually inputted. So i didn't pick these up, obviously.
