On that kind of salary you'll only be getting basic tax credits of £42 a month as you earn too much for WTC or the childcare element. Not sure why its going straight to the school club as you have already said he no longer attends school.
You need to get tough, five him a deadline to find a job or you'll find one for him.0 -
Hi Batty
You really seem to be going through it with your son at the moment, but you appear to be going about this in the right way, please ignore any critisism that has been directed at you, just because every post you right is not filled with apologies to society!
Looby Loo has hit the nail on the head with her early post which will help you finacially and give your son an opportunity to decide upon and begin to build his future.
Entry to Employment is a course that will help him to build the basic life skills and key skills to progress into work, college or a job with training.
Connexions would usually be your first port of call, but, there is much restructuring going on and support isn't great in all areas - definately worth a try though. Look for local providers and see if they are holding any open days that you could take your son too. I you pm me with the area that you live in, I will find your local providers of e2e.
e2e usually starts with part time hours (about 16) and builds up to full time (30 hrs). Whilst he is in full time education, you may continue your claim for child benefit.
Good News - rules for Educational Maintenance Allowance are changing too. Soon this will not be means tested and all learners will be able to claim the £30 per week, as long as they full fill their learning obligations.
Best of luck for the future.

As I said my Salary has only just jumped up, on my next review I probably wont get anything. I've given them all the details, but they said it's my previous years salary that's taken into account..... if it doesn't jump by more than £25,000, they just reduce your payments accordingly. (That's what they told me)
The Childcare is for my youngest, for before and after school and holidays0 -

Thanks...
He went on a BTSP (Back To School Programme) but no School will touch him in this County. I'm hoping if he DOES go and live with his Dad, it's in another County and the Schools there might give him a chance.
It seems unfair that he was attacked, but he got taken off the course. The boy who attacked him is statemented and so he gets to stay. The enquiry has gone on so long, my son has lost heart with the whole system. Every day I ring and ask what's to be done with him. Every day they say they will ring me back...... nothing
At the end of the day, this post was only raised as I've been told that I'll only get £60 JSA for 3 of us to live on if I'm made redundant. When my son had said he doesn't intending staying on, I knew I'd lose his Child Benefit.
(When I left school, there was no question of further education in our house. We worked or signed on to contribute to the family 'pot')
Excuse me for WRONGLY assuming that school leavers get benefit. I didn't know it had changed. So forgive me for asking what I'd be entitled to. Obviously he wont get IS, JSA or EMA if he doesn't pull his socks up. Things will be tight. I'm not relishing being un-employed, but it may come to that

You seem so sure if you get made redundent thats it.
Why don't you start looking for another job now?0 -

A wee tip, don't call them, write to them. An e-mail will do - and send one off every day, copying in your MP if necessary. This way you will generate a paper trail to evidence you have persisted in finding a solution to the problem which the school/authority has failed to action.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -

I've explained all this on another thread where I asked about JSA. It's complicated but revolves around mine and my partners health. I'd LIKE to become his carer full time, but he doesn't get the right benefit yet for me to do that.0 -
just tell the lazy little sod that unless hes in education, then nowt is free, if he wants to eat have light and heat then its either a percentage of his wage or aALL of his benefit money, hopefully that will give him the kick up the bum he needs
oh and why is he "waiting" to go live with his dad, why does he just not do it?If we can put a man on the moon...how come we cant put them all there?

His Dad is in prison and likely to be so for a long time....0
