My mob cannot be unlocked?!

Call t-mobile on 0845 412 5000 and see how much they would charge you. Unlocking these in a shop is going to be expensive (depending what you deem to be expensive).
Heres a nice little picture to show you how tricky it is http://allyoucanupload.webshots.com/v/20029643946989452760 -
Agree with dannys - I have seen no evidence anywhere in terms/conditions that the phone WILL be unlocked if you want it to - they can provide (and charge) for the service to do so, and quite fairly, if it doesn't work they give you your money back.
If you want a guaranteed SIM-free handset, buy a SIM-free handset and a SIM-only deal... this separates the contract subsidy from the handset - though the overall deal will still be worse. The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

Check out this document .This forms part of the OP's T-Mobile price plan.
There is no need for the comments regarding debranding and replacement covers etc. What is complete rubbish
Show me where, in the OPs contract (or even a standard t-mobile contract), that it states t-mobile will supply you with an unlocked phone after your contract ends.
Maybe you want them to debrand it, and also supply you with a new cover as the one you have has a t-mobile logo on it.
You have the right to unlock your phone (No-one has ever suggested otherwise on this thread), but its up to you to do it. Whether t-mobile will, or can, provide that service is another matter altogether as it doesn't form part of the contract.
If the original poster wants an unlocked 5300, and t-mobile can't do it, then he needs to find someone who can. (unless of course you would like to point out where in the contract t-mobile have said they would unlock it for him - which of course you can't do)
Theres lots of shops with the boxes to unlock this phone. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thanks for your input, guys; brilliant. Heng Leng's got it spot-on, as far as I'm concerned - It's reasonable to expect to be able to move your phone to another network at the end of contract (after paying the relevant fee). I've even found an Ofcom (Oftel) document which states "customers should be able to unlock their phones once the handset subsidy is recovered, which should in general be by the end of 12 months, if not before". I've phoned Ofcom and they've written to T-mob. I'll report back asap. Cheers.0

The Nokia 5300 is a BB5 nokia which are harder to unlock but can be done.
I have a BB5 unlocking box and the phone has to be stripped down, connected to the box, the program has to be run and then we have to short out 2 tiny testpoints on the mother board, and then the box unlocks the phone.
It is not a 5 minute job and that is why a lot of shops charge £20 for this phone.
With some Nokias the Network codes do not work.
For some of the newer Bb5 Nokias that can't be unlocked such as the 6500 slide, classic, N95 8gb, 5310 we have Nokia Turbo Sims that are put into the phone with the normal sims and it fools the IMSI in the phone to think it Is the correct network sim. These range from £20 - £30.
Just do a yell.com local search and find a local Independant retailer.
Your beloved 5300 will come back to life.0 -

So you want me to prove your point now as seemingly you can't.
However, I checked the doc, and couldn't find anything there that states they provide an unlocked phone at the end of the contract.
Question is now back to you
"Show me where, in the OPs contract (or even a standard t-mobile contract), that it states t-mobile will supply you with an unlocked phone after your contract ends."
Be good if you could also justify this statementHeng_Leng wrote:If T-Mobile have been stupid enough provide handsets that they cannot unlock, and haven't told you when you signed up, then that is their problem.0
