I got a Dell desktop last year with Vista Business I also have access to PCs running XP Pro.I was willing to try and get into Vista but it really is rubbish I am not short on memory but it still crashes with most browsers.I notice that MS allows vista owners to "downgrade" to XP.

Vista is so terrible that I read an article recently saying how MS are scrambling to release windows 8 and are treating vista like they did Windows ME and are trying to shirk it off. Practicality wise I see no point in choosing Vista over XP.

If you were feeling brave you could always try ubuntu ;)

yes I have a problem too with Vista.

I spoke to HP who's pc i have but they really do not want to know They tried everything to rectify the slow running of the PC by even collecting it and returning it to me with a new hard drive installed i called them to say that the problem was still there, 512 MB is not enough for a pc running Vista and they nearly agreed so to speak.

After many attempts to contact customer services and my cost(very exspensive hotline number) I gave up.

I wrote to the CEO via email and did get avery fast response saying that the relevant department would be in touch soon to discuss my problem. Guess what that was 2.5 months ago, I have since written again to the CEO saying that no one has contacted me but now I get no response from there either.

I have heared and seen a few comments on the web saying that MS offer a downgrade to XP but I cannot see how this can be done, Does anyone know how to do this and who to contact?

Yes you can downgrade, contact Dell for a disc.

I did it for a HP machine and although I did not qualify for the downgrade they sent me XP Pro disc anyway.

Think I just rang HP support, they were excelent even telephoned me back later to make sure I had received the disc. 10/10.

There is something seriously wrong if it 'still crashes with most browsers'.

I'm running Vista home premium on my Dell 531 and its performing fine.
Could it be a memory problem? It needs a couple of Gb to run in.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

    Hi mate,

Who do I contact at Dell to do this? Is there an e-mail address or do I need to call them?

    Cheers.

Nothing wrong with Vista. Have both 32bit and 64bit versions working here absolutely fine. Lappy installation is now several months old.

The problem more likely lies with who is mashing the keys.

The same article that was debunked the following week when Microsoft said they'd not even started coding Vista's successor (which is Windows 7 BTW) ?

Do you actually know anything about Windows which is correct or do you just repeat the rubbish you read on Slashdot?
