Without any further details further from the op I had to take the post on face value, the cambelt may well be just due a change, the water pump it seems has had some sort of failure, the garage that sold the car is responsible for selling a road worthy and fault free car. A blowing exhaust is not fault free!!!

    Exhausts wear items

    Cambelt service item

    Waterpump wear item

    Fanbelt service item

It's like moaning when the tyres go bald through use.

keep your unhelpful comments to your selves in future

So best course of action when a car needs a cambelt change is to sue the person who sold it to you?

And your point is what exactly?

As I said, ALL parts of a car could be said to be wear items, a car will not last forever.

The op bought a car in good faith from a garage (not a private sale), therefore the goods must be fit for purpose, if items on that car are faliling within 6 months it then becomes the garages onus to prove the fault was not present at the time of sale. Quite simple really.

But then this type of thing has been pointed out to you many a time in many different threads, but you choose to ignore it, as always!!! You really are a tiresome little child who clearly has no friends to play with on the weekends. Maybe you could make some better use of your time, how about auditioning for a different pantomime, snow white maybe, I am sure you would get the part of Dopey without too much trouble, at least then that would keep you off the boards for the xmas period!

That all of those things are maintence items that will not be covered by a warrenty.

Yelping sale of goods act won't help OP.

He or she needs to get the faults fixed at his or her own cost.

    It's as simple as that.

    HTH.

And this is where your confusion lies, it is nothing to do with any sort of warranty in any way, shape or form, it is to do with the sales of goods act, plain and simple - forget the word warranty ever existed, it means nothing, it is just a cheap shot of garages to try and use such things as a get out clause to less knowledgeable people such as yourself - clearly you are the type of customer who would fall for it!!!!

Why do you think you only have 3 months of a warranty?

It is down to the garage to prove the faults were not there at time of purchase within the first 6 months. Tell the garage you are not making a claim under their warranty but claiming against them under the sale of goods act. IF they refuse to put the defects right then take the car to an independent garage, get a quote for the work and then go through the small claims court to recover this amount. Lots of threads on how to do it on here, it's not difficult.

I have paperwork that says 3 months warrenty, my only main quibble is the fact that the Cam belt should have been changed when the car reached 5 years old or 70,000 miles whichever came first (stated in handbook) when I purchased the car I asked if the cam belt had been changed, as they serviced it when the car was five years old, it hasn't got to 70,000 miles yet so they said don't worry you have loads of time before you need that changing, I asked them to change it and they wouldn'y saying it didn't need it, so know I am faced with replacing it myself or run the risk of it snapping which would cost me a fortune ( I feel it better not to take your chances with these sort of things) So was it their responsibilty to change it as the car had reached 5 years old when they gave it a full service in order to to sell it onto me ???????????? that is my point.

Thats like saying you drove a car, trashed it and want your money back or a free repair.

I have only done just over 1000 miles so I don't think I have TRASHED IT do you. I am 35 with two small children not 18 and senseless.

  • Cam belt wear item.

    Waterpump wear item

    Belts wear item.

Did you complain when you discovered that it needed more fuel for further use than it came with?

No I never actually, I am not that stupid. For your information I have fixed the exhaust it turned out to be the heat sheild, nothing serious, the garage are going to pay (partly) for my repairs as I have only done very few miles in it and I raised the point about the cambelt at the point of sale. See their are some decent people in the world, something you obviously know nothing about. Thank you for your help you have been very kind and your comments very useful.

My car is being fixed tomorrow.
