But thats not a bad thing is it?
Reading this board more and more makes me realise what a ball ache buying is! :rotfl:
And I've come to the conclusion now isn't a good time to buy.
Basically I'm just looking for pats on the back and people saying 'SS thats a smart head on your shoulders there lad. You're doing the right thing'!

Yes, you're choosing to do the right thing IMO. I think there's nothing wrong with renting and it's a pretty good idea if you cannot afford to buy. There are still pitfalls but surely less than with buying, if you can avoid overinflated rents and really dodgy landlords you can get a nice, cheap place to live (compared to a mortgage at this time).
I've decided to save up a deposit to buy in a few years' time, just looking into what is involved with buying and it is an undertaking not to be sniffed at.
I think it's all a state of mind, so rather than feeling bad about not being able to buy now, pat yourself on the back for saving your money to get you into a better position.Never mind the house prices, I'm saving a deposit.
[STRIKE]£20,000[/STRIKE] £15,100.82 still needed - 24.50% saved so far!
Buying and moving costs: £3-5k - will save this after the £20k
Aiming to buy my own place by the end of 20110 -
big pat on the head to you...
I am in process of selling but have already moved to new town so was renting until sold. Even though now going thorugh offer process i have decided to continue to rent for a while before buying and wait to see what market and interest rates will mean to me.

Of course you are doing the right thing! Its cheaper! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I sold last year after a year's wait... panicking as I could see "the writing on the wall" and hoped buyers weren't seeing the same.
I am now renting, tiny (cheap) bedsit. Waiting.
I expect to be waiting for 3-4 years.
I will use this time to find out who I am and what I want.
Now I am renting, sat here with the 2nd tranche of The Great Storm of 2008 crashing in from the West .... I am SO grateful I don't have to worry the roof's flying off, don't have to check in the morning for slates and worry how to deal with it, the gate won't be wrenched off it's anchors (like a previous storm), the drains won't block/flood.
It's bloomin' marvellous. I can sit here all relaxed, on the Internet, with chocolate instead.0 -
