    Another pat from me. When you've worked so hard to get yourself out of debt, it would have been a shame if you had saddled yourself with a mortgage just when house prices were about to tank.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    I think I am too. Its hard to accept when ambition has been owning for so long...its har not to get tunnel vision. We HAVE a deposit but not enough for what we want for the next 5 years or so, so renting for less thn a mortgage on something we DON'T want seems a better bet...I think.

    Its tough trying to rent with pets though (no newts, but cats and a dog!)

    Just email the EAs (even those EAs that say they don't take pets) and ask what they have on their books for someone with pets. Any LL who has had a property stood empty for a while, or can't afford a void, will often change their mind.
    RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
