Anyone else got a target in mind by Christmas?

It was £15k but I don't think I'm going to meet that now, so I've revised it to £13.5k.

I want to get to at least 50% of our first goal by Christmas. By the end of 2008 I wanted to reach 6.66% of our third goal, only because it would say 666 :D , which we did :T . We're not even up to 25% yet, but hopefully that won't be too long to get to.

I'd like to get to £3000 minimum, £5000 ideally by christmas. Not huge amounts, and they still feel so far away but I've not long started on my journey.

    Let me consult my spreadsheet....

I think 15k by christmas is my target :)

Here is another question to keep the thread ticking along....

What savings account do you have your deposit savings in?

Half of mine are in a 2.5% ISA with abbey and the other half are currently in an abbey esaver getting a grim 1% (I havent bothered moving them because i will be using them for my isa next month) :)

    I'm the same as Jimlad!

I've saved £15,000 in last 11 months and have £3600 in an HSBC Isa which to date has accrued me a miserly £52 in interest despite having the full £3600 in it for the last 9 months. About £11, 000 is in an online bonus saver account which started at 5.25 interest and is now down to 1 point something and not doing much in interest. Another £500 is in a 10% regular saver account which I started 2 months ago saving the max £250 a month but has to stay in for the whole year and deposit £250 a month into it before it reverts to the flexi saver rate after 12 months of another low 1%. I actually look at the premium bond calculator and think that in the current climate it might not actually be as bad as the interest rates that are currently on offer!

I hope we can hit our £20,000 target by Christmas - although we might be in a position to buy before that so all bets would be off anyway! It's slow going at the moment - have a lot of expenses coming up, e.g. I urgently need new glasses as my present ones are lopsided! We've also been paying off OH's overdraft, and that's nearly disappeared so once that debt's gone we can divert that money into our savings.

A big chunk of our deposit fund is in my Nationwide ISA, now attracting something like 0.5% interest (but it's tax-free, of course! ;)) - I suppose there'll be at least some interest being paid next month for the first six months of this financial year before the rates started tumbling - and the rest is in various internet-based accounts which at one time offered fairly good rates of interest.
