Hi, can I join? Our savings goal is pretty modest
We lived in London for six years, while getting out of debt, and found it very difficult to save. So we've moved back to our hometown and are staying with my mum and saving as hard as we can.

Hi Tara
we are hoping to buy in Birmingham - ideally in Edgbaston, Moseley or Kings Heath. We are very lucky that our parents are able to help us too - my goal is for the portion my husband and I are saving up.
Your progress is amazingly impressive, by the way!0 -
Hey Yorpington, I'm hoping to buy in Birmingham too. When are you hoping to start looking at houses?Homeowner:j0

When we can afford it Lolly :rotfl: in seriousness, we are expecting a big payment from DH's business next month so should be able to start looking at the end of April I hope
What about you?

Similar to you, when i can afford to. Also when I have a bit more certainty about what I'll be doing career wise. Hopefully by the end of the year things will be a little clearer and so end of the year and start of next year will be the earliest but probably later.Homeowner:j0

Saving didn't go quite as planned this week partly due to a wages mess up. Still put away about £750 though.
I've now exchanged on my flat too and complete next week.:www: Progress Report :www:
Offer accepted: £107'000
Deposit: £23'000
Mortgage approved for: £84'000
Exchanged: 2/3/16
:T ... complete on 9/3/16 ... :T0 -
Ohh me too! :hello:
As you can see from my signature I'm way behind you two, but you're giving me hope! It's very tough going, paying 100% of rent, bills, cleaning costs etc which most people share, while also being 100% responsible for saving for a deposit and emergency fund, without even 1p of family money. BUT when I get down about that, I think of how proud I will be to have made it literally all by myself. No Help to Buy or anything (thank you, blanket £250k ex-London cap).
Hello
It's lovely to hear from other single buyers. You can definitely do it and it gets easier as you start to make more progress and get closer to your goal. I found the first 10k the hardest. I remember wondering how people with 25k had managed it.:o
I find Tara really inspiring, other people's success makes you remember you can do it on the down days. We just need to keep going.:TMortgage overpayments 2018: £4602, 2019: £7870
Mortgage overpayments 2020: £4620
Mortgage 2017 £145K, June 2020 £112.6k0
