:T Well done hostie! £15K is a great achievement, fingers crossed you do it in time!
I only managed to save just under £8,500 this year. If Christmas hadn't got in the way it would have been £9K .
What's everyones targets for 2010? Mine is £10K which is a push but I think that's what drives me to save, having little goals to work to. I've broken it down and it's about £27 a day, and after my regular savings that go in it's only £15 a day which seems a lot easier to achieve (she says full of hope)
Good luck everyone in the New Year and I hope we see lots of new MFW emerging.Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £148.59 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -

Stupotstu I'm saving a deposit to add to the equity in my flat so I can buy a larger place in a more suitable location.
Including the potential equity in my flat (which I know is not guaranteed) I've now got £25000 which I'm pretty happy with would like to achieve £30000 before buying but as my place is on the market I may not have much say in when I will be buying. Onwards and upwards anyway.
Purple £8500 is great in a year.0 -

I think i can make it to the 20k mark this time next year. That means saving 6k, which is 500 a month.
In which case I think i will aim for 21k by 31/12/10 to really push myselfMortgage Free 22/03/17

My initial target is to get to £10k (another £900) but really I'd like to have something between £15k and £20k by the end of 2010.ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)0 -
Well this new year means that things have changed.
My parents are going to help us make our deposit up to 25%.
I didnt want to go to them but having run through the figures having a 25% deposit makes such a difference that I felt I had to. Its going to potentially knock 10-15 years off the term (making certain assumptions about rates and prices). Ive had to invent another 7.5k to reduce the amount I had to ask them for but the sacrifices are going to be worth it I think.
Sig needs to change now!0 -
Today is payday for me!!
OH and I have now saved 58% towards our deposit.
Lets hope the saving can continue into the new year and fingers crossed towards the end of next year could be house purchase time!Squish0 -
Is there anyone on here that already has their first house and is saving up for another, bigger, more expensive second house? Perhaps in an area that they might choose rather than where they first felt they had to to get on the property ladder?
Yup, already have a flat but we are saving up for a deposit on a 3 bed semi. It will be our long term family home. We probably wont make anything on our flat. Staying in the same location though.Squish0 -
This year we are really saving our butts off. We are hoping to get to the 10k mark by the end of 2010. We really need 15k but I guess we will get that ASAP. Having 2 kids dosent help I guess but wouldnt swap them for anything in the world. Love them to bits and they are the best thing to happen to usSAVING FOR OUR FIRST HOUSE DEPOSIT
