TK Maxx change of policy

  • Pity they won`t allow an exchange with a valid receipt up say the original 30 days.
  • I've just been stung by this. My mum bought my boyfriend two T-shirts as a birthday present about two and a half weeks in advance of his birthday...

The woman on the cashdesk actually said that a return or refund would be accepted as long as mum kept her receipt (no mention of the 14 days).

After his birthday, we've tried to get a return on the T-shirts, because they don't fit and they won't allow us to, because we're over the 14 days. I phoned customers services and they wont' budge either.

Although, I can see why they're doing it, if they've been stung so many times in the past, but surely somebody in the company can overrule their policy on an individual basis. The T-shirts have TK Maxx labels still on showing that they havent' been worn. So why penalise individuals who simply were too organised with their birthday present buying!!

Goods stolen from their store will have the labels on as well!

Yes but I've got a receipt for the items, so I can prove it's not nicked!

Doesn't it mention the 14 days on the receipt?

What about the thieves who pick receipts out of bins or off the floor. Yes, they do do this.

The fact is it's their policy.Try taking it back to another store,or ringing and speaking to the Manager ,who may use their discretion. I think this paticular store has so many different labels it must be a nightmare to keep track of stock.
  • We did have the receipt and duh didn't read it! Who does? Busy lifestyle n all - I think people at the register need to be a bit more proactive and inform customers about 14 days return policy. Mum actually had a lengthy conversation with them about birthday presents and hoping the T-shirts would fit and she said it would be perfectly ok to bring it back and exchange. No mention by her of the change in policy.

And the receipt has my mum's credit card details on and the items are listed... so there's no way that we've nicked it.

All I'm saying is that rules are made to be broken and discretion should be applied on individual cases. The store said they had no power whatsoever to make any decisions about returns. And the telephone customer services wouldn't budge. It's a legitimate case and they should be lenient. Especially, because as a family we buy loads of stuff from them. What about looking after your loyal customers?!?

I think there will also be a sign behind the till, but I wouldn't have known it was 14 days if I hadn't read it on here. You don't always read the signs in every shop. I would definitely have a go at speaking to the Manager, you have nothing to lose.

or to get stuff last minute before a two week holiday and be stuck with it afterwards with no hope of an exchange if it doesn`t fit.
try it on before you buy then you will know if it will fit or not

i find the 14 day policy fair
