Nationwide Debit Card used in any ATM in Ireland.
  • I don't have a Nationwide Debit Card.

Would it be cheaper just to get money out of the bank while we are there, would it work out better?

No, it would be a lot more expensive. It would be cheaper to open a Nationwide FlexAccount and place your intended spending money into it. Then take the debit card (or ATM card) that Nationwide give you, whenever you go on holiday.

Nationwide FlexAccount customers are able to withdraw foreign currency (at a foreign ATM), without being charged or fleeced by currency conversion rates (Nationwide converts at interbank rate, so I understand).

Since you're not going to Ireland until 8th November, you've plenty of time to open a Nationwide FlexAccount and receive the debit card / ATM card.
  • I'm off to Italy for a week soon.

Should I use just cash or plastic or both?

    I have these cards:
    CC: AMEX, Capital One,
DC: HSBC, NatWest, First Direct, Halifax.

Or should I just order a load of cash from Interchange FX 1.241 (as in the money maximiser votes the best)?

    Tanks
  • I'm off to Vienna next week and would like to ask which banks' atm's are commission-free in Austria? I'll be using a Nationwide debit card to withdraw cash.
