the atm's don't charge a fee but you need to be wary of dynamic currency conversion (please search on here for full details ) basically when it asks you whether you would like the transaction workrd out in GBP or euros ....you want it in euros

Was reading about that earlier yes, I'll make sure I always select euros, thank you

It normally gets sent by Royal Mail special delivery, which is insured and reliable (not 100% - nothing ever is)

Bear in mind you'll need to be in to sign for it - if you are not there WILL be a delay in you receiving it.
  • Am off to Palma for a few days. Thinking of taking sterling with me to change there. Does anyone know what the exchange rate is out there?

Got a quote from Amigo Autos for car hire from Seville airport. We can pay now in sterling or in euros when we pick the car up.

    Which is best???

    Thanks

Usually it's cheaper to pay in foreign currency (i.e. Euros). However, unless you post the amounts in GBP and EUR it's impossible to give a definite answer.

Does anyone know, using your Nationwide Debit card, can you get Euros out in the UK via a ATM and hence get the better exchange rate than at the travel agents?

Some Tesco stores have ATMs with this facility though they control the exchange rate, not your card company, so you may not necessarily get a better deal.

    Details here :)
