Question: What are the benefits of buying Euros from a currency provider rather than simply withdrawing the cash from a Nationwide bank account at a European ATM and simply paying the Visa base rate?0

does anyone know if the ATMs in the Eurotunnel terminal charge a fee for withdrawing Euros ?
I have a Nationwide Flex Account card if that makes any difference.

You do have the 'comfort' factor of having some euros when you arrive in case you can't get to an ATM/it doesn't work.
But then taking £££ is nearly as good for the rare occasions it happens
Apart from that - none0 -
Does it have to be a nationwide bank account to benefit on the base rate?0

I'd like to have an account where I can deposit or remove Euros or even transfer between Sterling and Euro. This should be easy to do in the UK but it's not. It's a simple thing to do, most Canadian banks have a US dollar current account attached to them.
I can't find any info on MSE about which is the best bank to open a Euro account with. If I'm depositing euros I'd prefer to have them stay as Euros and not exchanged to Sterling.
Any ideas?0 -

Either Halifax or Lloyds TSB (same company anyway) in Spain will let you opening a Euro account with a UK address. It can be applied for online.
