  • 08:38 13Nov09 MARKET TALK: GBP Gains Not Seen Sustainable

0838 GMT - The GBP may have recovered just about all the losses it made against the EUR after the BOE's dovish Inflation Report earlier this week. But, says RBC Capital Markets, "we are not convinced GBP's rebound is sustainable in an environment where the BOE still appears to be manipulating rate expectations lower." The next major hurdle for GBP is the minutes of this month's MPC meeting next Wednesday, the bank adds. GBP/USD now at $1.6669.

Visa is committed to providing cardholders with a safe, convenient and cost-effective way to pay when traveling internationally.

The exchange rate calculator on the Visa Corporate site is currently undergoing maintenance. We expect the updated calculator to be available in early November.

We're sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience.

7mths is a long time in forex !
after whats happened over the past 2yrs, its fair to say anything could happen!

to be honest, its pretty low at mom, so i wouldnt expect it to go too far lower, but there is certainly room for it to go further on the upside

  • Hi, apologies if this is often asked but I find the search facility on here useless.

I need to make a payment of just over EUR 4k into a UK based Euro account, then later on to make a further payment of EUR 42k to complete on a purchase. As I'm UK based I'm paying for the transfer in GBP.

I have heard of XE.com, but are there other respected UK currency brokers that I should look at obtaining quotes from?

XE.com seem to be good, but I have heard their fees are a bit tricky when sending Euros to the UK i.e. no free transfer fees. Also, XE want me to sign up and may take a day to process my registration - I would like to send the first payment today if possible.

After that, crystal balls aside, should I try to hedge the remaining 42k to protect against a rate slide?
