    Well, the Dollar has dropped significantly against the Euro too since April, so I think it's more a case of a weak Dollar propping up the Pound.

    We need the European Central Bank to lower their interest rates again, but I can't see that happening...

    thats what i mean, the Euro is somehow staying strong against GBP and USD, but all we hear is bad news out of Euroland

    dont rule out an ECB rate cut...

    they were released at 6.15 this morning, and haven't made any difference so far :confused:

    Do the ECB have regular meetings to review interest rates in the way BoE do?

    (since I'm posting anyway just to say thanks for keeping the thread up to date, it's really useful for those of us heading off to eurozone soon)

    Usually a week after the BoE.

    usually on same day as BoE, or even the week before
    but never the week after

    upcoming monthly meetings
    announcements always made 12.45pm (uk time)

    6th August (same day as BoE)
    3rd September (1 week before BoE)
    8th October (same day as BoE)
    5th November (same day as BoE)
    3rd December (1 week before BoE)

    its usually the 1st thursday of every month, except if the thursday is the first day of the month
