Only true for a few popular holiday destinations - not universally so.
For the High Street there is really no substitute to going round asking - and you may be able to haggle a better deal for large sums0 -

Just to clarify, it's Thomas Exchange, not Thomas Cook Exchange - don't get the 2 confused.
