    Sorry to be so dim...

I am off to France next week and looking to get £300 Euros.

What am I exactly looking at on the exchange rate. Local T/A offered 1.03 yesterday. is that good? Looking at the above its more like 1.11? Is that correct? Am i best of waiting and getting it nearer the time (wednesday) or ordering online for the best deal. Every Euro helps!

1.11 is where the InterBank foreign exchange market is currently trading.
High street will be lower than this, but i would imagine you should get better than 1.03 if you shop around.

a little more upwards movement last night, but now seems to be thinking... how did the news yesterday affect things.. and do you think the markets are nervous about possible announcements tomorrow - in terms of a further rate cut or more QE?

well, it seems the market liked yesterdays news from a GBP point of view, as we are a point higher than we were 24hrs ago (1.11 against 1.10)

Tomorrows MPC announcement is expected to be a bit of a waste of time.
Not much chance of a rate cut, and prob just a bit of waffle about how QE is going, is the general expectation.

  • I've been saying it for ages, everyone in EuroZone seems to have their head in the sand when it comes to admitting they have far more serious economic problem than they are prepared to admit....

Now at last, someone seems to agree with me....

I guess things will be a little choppy today... not that I'm loosing faith, but do you think it will carry on upwards afterwards?

    urgh this is beyond me....

could i have quick advice please - I found 130 euros whilst tidying up (honestly!!) - because of the exchange rate should i change them for £'s now or may as well hang onto them until hol in september - I wouldnt need that many tho?

I would have exchanged them last summer so make a profit?

    thank you!
