Is a 2.2 really that bad :(

A 2.2 shows that you probably 'just' got through uni.
It shows (at least to me) that you probably p1ssed it up against a wall for 3 years & don't really posess the fire & enthusiasm to be highly successful.0 -
I do work in a HR dept. & my views are my own, you better hope you don't apply to me with a 2.2. It will go straight in the bin & desrvedly so for your laziness.
I take it from that, that you got a 2.2 as well?!
Let's be honest, a 2.2 is not rocket science, it's like getting poor A'level results0 -
oh dammit, how do i take the thanks away..
yes, i got a 2:2.. i did a degree that didn't quite agree with me and i found especially boring in parts. It was at a reasonable red-brick uni in a respectable science subject. I was accepted onto an MSc course that had a 2:1 minimum requirement on the basis of my degree coursework (which I received a 1st for).
You can look on my 2:2 this way: I'm terrible at exams in subjects that I don't find interesting but I'm excellent at course work. I can't be that bad a Geneticist as I managed to become a university Research Fellow without a PhD.
I'm now a successful Healthcare IT Consultant with lots of fire and enthusiasm.0 -

With most companies stating that they want all round individuals rather than just people who got good grades, your HR department sure seems to be falling behind!
A 2.2 does not mean that you !!!!ed up the wall for your uni life. I had 3 As at a levels , did really well in my first year, but have a 2.2 overall at the moment for personal reasons in 2nd year that i do not necessarily want to put on an application, and no, none of it had anything to do with alcohol!! :mad:0 -
I managed to get a 2:1 BSc in Maths from Sheffield University and currently doing a masters in Software Systems (hoping for a distinction).
One thing that annoyed me was the UCAS points required for jobs. I only have 290 due to fairly poor A-Levels (ADD). I found it quite ridiculous that they were judging me on exams I took when I was 17/18 (now 23). The solution? Lie. I don't know how many check A-Level results, but I'm hoping hardly any. If they find you out, tell them the truth. Shows you have motivation.0 -
I don't even know how many UCAS points I have since Glasgow Uni don't use them, they just go on grades. I think I'd probably be a little bit worse off because Highers don't count as much as A levels.
Also, I probably wouldn't lie (lies of omission or a little stretching are fine) on a CV. If you were found out they'd probably start to wonder what else you've lied about and it wouldn't give a favourable impression.0 -
yey!!
I've just been offered a place on a masters course for next year!!
during the interview they never once asked about my 2.2 degree classification. Although they were a bit miffed about a maths graduate applying for an Art and Design masters!!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
