Engine Seizure Help

Once the oil is gone the bearings and moving parts melt and seize as they are no longer lubricated or able to distribute heat. This would not affect the coolant temperature in any way as coolant only flows through the cylinder block, not the moving parts. In most cars, when the oil level is bad enough to have made the oil light come on, engine damage of some description is already likely, and oil light definitely means pull over and turn off engine, then preferably hot foot it to the nearest garage for a can of oil or wait for breakdown.0

That just means the oil is low, and needs topping up, no need to stop immediatly.

Well, assuming the sump plug came out followed by the oil it does seem an extreme coincidence that the plug has been nice and tight and leak free since the last service and then falls out the day after it’s been with the garage.
What might have happened is spotty apprentice in charge of oil changes starts to loosen sump plug, boss spots him and shouts “leave that, it’s got a diagnostic light on”, spotty one does leave it and then nobody thinks to check the plug is tight before it gets handed back to luckless punter.
Hard (if not impossible) to prove unless the garage hold their hands up0 -

if the oil light comes on then the oil is dangerously low as the evidence in the original post shows us.

Yes this is what i think has happened. The garage will most likely deny this but i'll let everyone know tomorrow.
