:hello:
hellooooo
well, I finally managed to send the UCAS application off (a bit late - 15th February) for Digital Media (I'm a self taught photographic retoucher) and I'll be 37 for the Sept start.
I received an unconditional from the South Bank Uni soon after.
I got a phone call from another who said yes but do I want to do a masters instead - thought about it but want to do the full 3 years.
I had to go to an interview and show a portfolio at the East London Uni who said yes (and I had a strong portfolio - surprise to me as I'd never put one together before and have no prior training in art or design)
I went to another interview yesterday and it looks like a yes but will get a letter soon.
I'm doing an Open Uni course to get an introduction into writing Essays (I've recently finished one and just started another) - I'm hoping that it will help and slightly worried that I should have done an access course but so far the Uni's have said that I might actually be bored during the first year... er???? quite a compliment but I'm rather brain dead and disorganised so I think I need the first year to kick my brain into gear!
I'm petrified and excited... arrrggghhhhh
Oh... I've completed the student finance papers online too.
Worried about student accommodation as how do I fit all my stuff in those tiny tiny rooms? I'm trying to sell stuff but I'm not getting rid of all my books and sewing machine. (no family to store stuff with)
scary stuff - good luck everyone!
(might start playing the lottery though

Great news well done, I am ever amazed that ppl can get into uni without doing an Access course or A-levels, you must be one clever cookie with a fab portfolio.
Me I had to start at the bottom as I am not very clever and managed to fail all my GCSES 15 odd yes ago. However life would be so much easier if I had passed first time round, but then I dont think I would be a mummy of 5 or ever of wanted to study Social Work, just goes to show what life experiance provides us with!!!!Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -

I'm been offered a conditional place at Shefield Hallam ( which I've accepted) so all I need to do now is do my project, oh and now stress about applying for the finance side of it.
I have not been set my projects yet but have 4 I think... Ahhhhhhh and my portfolio!
I cant really get over how fast its all gone, we are SO close to the end now, something I NEVER EVER believed I would get to.
Fingers crossed we all make it!Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -
Mrsmanda, UCL is a top 5 uni, all of their courses are popular and they definitely wouldn't be running them if they couldn't fill the places. So you have nothing to worry about.

thanks - I think bringing up five kids would have given you a head start with your studies so you'll be beating the 'youngsters' by miles - I don't think you'll have any problems this time and Uni's want mature students as they actually want to learn and not go just for a social life or because their little friends are!
I personally think people should work for a few years before going to Uni (well, not 21 years like me!!) - I've trained up people who just went to school, college and then Uni and we couldn't give them any urgent work or complex stuff for a year because they were so slow and thought they were still at school! guess who got paid more though :mad:Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later date
