Hi,
I have virgin media broadband and phone line with them (cancelled tv package) do i need a phone line as i dont use the landline and it would save me roughly £15 a month.
also i rung them up few weeks ago as my mate says he got 2 for £20 deal as an existing customer but when i rang them they said it was for new customers only i argued the fact that my mate was existing but they were adamant it was for new customers only - are they takin the mick ?
thanks

I asked Virgin for my MAC no as I am leaving them and they insisted that they do not have MAC numbers! Sky are insisting that they cannot take over my broadband without the MAC number so someone is telling porkies here.
Is it true that Virgin do not have MAC nos?0 -
Are you Virgin cable or landline?
Landline would have MAC no, cable I do not know, but at a guess there would not be one because there is only one cable BB provider, Virgin, so no else to move to on cable anywayWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
This is for ADSL Users not Cable
What is a MAC code?- You use MAC code to switch broadband providers without a downtime on your internet connection.*
- MAC Is abbreviation for Migration Access Code and is 17-18 digit alphanumeric code.
- You need to call your broadband provider to get your MAC code - use the number listed below

To get your MAC Code please call: 0845 045 0709You don’t have to be afraid to request MAC code as your broadband provider must supply you the MAC code within 5 days according to the UK law. Have your home phone number ready or your broadband customer reference as the customer service will want to confirm your identity. Requesting a MAC code does not mean that your contract will be terminated. In fact, you should terminate your contract after you have arranged a new contract with your new broadband provider. In this way you will not have any major downtime on your internet connection.
The majority of the UK broadband providers will send you the MAC code via the email in 24 hours. Once you have the code you can then switch to your new provider0 -
didnt really answer my question really all i wanted to know was do i need the phone line to have my cable broadband?0

Why did you not say it was cable from the very start the way your post was worded inferred that it was ADSL you were talking about.
Phone Virgin up on their premium line and ask them for any further information you want at least when your wasting their time you are paying for the privilege.

Your MAC is printed under your modem0

Your MAC is printed under your modem
Thats different to what the OP is requiring. She's after a Migration Authorisation Code which you give to different providers to transfer the service to them. What you're referring to is the MAC address of the modem, same abbreviation but different meaning

Bargain !!
As it happens NO you dont need phone line for cable broadband, I rang them on 150 then asked lady said no you dont so i said i would like to cancel my phone line then.
She put me through to customer relations and i told him the same (very rarely use landline) and the man offered me the 2 for £20 deal, when i told him i asked for that a month ago and was refused as it was for new customers only he said thats customer services they cant do that but he could
so now im a happy bunny with my 2 for £20 deal saving me around £15 a month and keep the services i had !!!
