    :confused::confused::confused:

OP's first post states that they closed at 4pm!!!!

then to be onthe safe side I'd suggest finding someone else to do it - despite what docs say if you cant check with them you cant be certain.

I know it's too late, but you should not do this until you are sure.
If you can't find out then too bad, they will have to get a taxi.

It really is not worth getting prosecuted for.

Took my own vehicle, it was a squeeze but we managed.

I rang Quinn up today (monday) and they confirmed i could drive most other vehicles with 3rd party covering. The only ones I cannot drive are cars in which there insurance policies state i cant. My mother drives a 2.2 2004 vauxhall vectra. Her insurance states no-one under 25 can drive it.

Even with this re-assurance i still don't feel totally conformable, driving other vehicles.

Insurance runs out soon, going fully comp with a policy that states i cannot drive other vehicles:rolleyes:

Hi, sorry to bump this old thread but my question wasn't worth one of it's own.

I'm with Auto Direct (Fortis) and I was confused as to whether i can drive other cars on my 3rd party F&T policy, so i've just rang them and they confirmed i can drive other cars and will be insured 3rd party only.

I'm stil a bit nervous after reading some of the posts on this thread saying it's usually only if you have a fully comp policy (as i thought this too), so now that i've been told by the insurance company that i am, and if i was to get pulled over, could i just direct them to the insurance company?

Car i'll be driving is my sisters and is legal, insured, taxed etc.

It doesn't mention other cars on the cert, just in the policy documents.

I guess i should just take their word for it that i'm covered and stop fretting, but i do worry about these things :o

How much is the car you're going to be driving worth?

If it does not say you are covered on the certificate then you are probably not covered,

On your certificate where it states who is covered to drive it will say something to the effect

    Insured only to drive

The Policyholder may also drive any private car not belonging to him or hired to him under a hire purchase agreement.

If it does not have the line above then you are almost certainly not covered. Bear in mind if you are stopped by the police in your sisters car they will ask you to produce the certificate. If it does not confirm you are covered to drive other vehicles then they will prosecute you for driving with no insurance unless your Insurance Company confirm you are covered.
