    is it anti-bacterial?

This is a good question that i'd like an answer to as well. After being inspired to hand bake our own bread from this forum and using the famous Stardrop mixture to clean our worktops, it would be nice to know as we like to knead our bread straight on the worktop.

If Stardrops isn't anti-bacterial does anyone know a good mixture as i know you must be VERY careful when mixing things up especially bleach!!
  • Wow, I just bought my second bottle of stardrops when this thread popped up again. So that was 18 months out of one bottle :) even at a cost of £1 that's pretty good.

I don't know if it's antibacterial but it's pretty much all I've used to clean my surfaces for that eighteen months and none of us have food poisoning yet :)

I use 10% star drops, top up with water and add a few drops of tea tree oil, which is anti bacterial, done this for years with no problems on any surfaces.

No. It is a concentrated soap-free detergent. To kill germs, you need a disinfectant.

And Stardrops do a Pine Disinfectant.

Just been in my local Iceland for the first time, and I discovered they have a whole section devoted to Stardrops products. FIVE shelves full of Stardrops products!

I didn't realise they did so may products! Floor cleaner, oxy stain removing powder, glass cleaner, furniture polish wipes, and 3 or 4 other wipes but I can't remember what they were.

All for a pound each too.

Edit: Just been on the Stardrops web site and Iceland seems to have the full range, originals, cream cleaners, trigger sprays, wipes and powder!

Just a wee update. My local asda in Luton are doing the 1litre bottle of Stardrops for only £1!!!
Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

There is a section on the new website called 'Memory Lane' with old adverts for Stardrops. The 2nd advert promotes stardrops instead of different products for different applications. Ironic bearing in mind the plethora of new Stardrops products. I'm sticking with the original Stardrops concentrate (with a bit of Starclen now and then).

You're right! I think the Stardrops makers are way behind.

Years ago we used one product to clean everything, then the manufacturers discovered that they could sell us much more by putting it in different bottles and saying it was for different parts of the house. And we fell for it, buying several bottles of cleaner to clean different parts of the house.

Meanwhile Stardrops carried on with "One cleaner for everything". Now we are going back to useingas few cleanersas possible Stardrot jump on the bandwaggon and bring out load of cleaners.

Like you, I use Stardrop to clean most things, so I'm not going to buy a separate bottle of it just for the floor!
