Theres a big difference between you being a way down the road, her starting the turn & realising the road was blocked & had to halt her turn & you carried on driving & hit her.
AND
She turns sharply in front of you & you smash into her, but in this case, she would have been moving, not stationary.
Which is it?0 -
MrsE I admit I was distracted and she had made the turn as I was approaching her. Just checked with OH as he was in the car at the time and he says she was moving and then she stopped causing me to slam on the brakes.
Sorry if this all sounds contradictory, but everything happened so quickly and OH recalls more than me.0 -
Think of it this way Ballandchain.
You are safe and un-injured ...Nobody is hurt and this weekend nobody is suffering because of what happend ..
The price you are paying is very small compared to what could have happened ....and I can almost gaurantee you this ..when this women looks at her car in daylight ...She will find some damage ...She has not got your details ...So no claim coming your way either ...All in all ..from what could have been ..you got of lighlty ...Stop complaining and start being a bit thankfull..:)0 -
Victoriasdad, not sure if you were being sarcastic but I did laugh!0

I would've been braking before that...
I'm
to be honest, I've read thru, got the picture and the picture has gradually changed as its gone along..................
Learn to drive as if everyone else is an idiot and you will avoid hitting people, always be prepared for the unexpected.Genie

Globalds, believe me I feel extremely lucky that nobody was hurt. I put good health first. I just couldn't believe this woman thought her car was more important than whether I was injured (my fault or not.)
If someone went into me the first thing I'd do is check they were ok, cars can be fixed, people only have one life.
I'll finish this now as I didn't want to get into arguments and I'm just glad we all came out of it in one piece.0 -
Curious - what distracted you? And why didn't OH back you up when he too saw what happened?Genie

Jeannie, this is going to sound bad but I had things on my mind at the time and OH said he thought the woman would feel intimidated if he got out of the car too.
Thank you to all who have replied and I'll just chalk this down to experience.0 -
But she ended up intimidating you. Best line of defence is attack - sounds like that was her tactic. In which case, she sounds guilty

I got distracted in sense had just been given some bad news and forgot (yeah I know) about the speed camera on my way home. Bu**er.Genie

Thanks for clarifying a little more, but it sounds like a classic 'accident' where both drivers had a share of the blame - her bad road positioning and your distraction causing late braking.
