  • Finally I have found a way to unlock my Samsung C170 - just thought i would put down the details for anyone else who might want it.

It is actually copied from an old comment back in 2005 and was for a Samsung X450 and E810 but it would seem that it works on the C170 as well.

Thanks to wacko911 you put up these details originally.

    1) note handset imei
    2) insert the card you want to use in your handset and switch on
    3) at wrong card enter *2767*688xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx#
    (xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx = handset imei number)
    4) after reboot your sim will work, BUT not after power down

    now the trick:

    5) enter *0141#
    6) press call (green) button
    7) now simlock updated to current network

    Hope it helps.

  • Sorry I should have said that you can power down the phone on the C170 - it still stays unlocked.

  • I have a SE K770i phone that's locked to Virgin Mobile and is a CID53 is there any way I can unlock it for free like with a patch + Setool or do have to resort to paying Virgin £15 for a code?

    Thanks in advance.
  • Cid 53 cant be patched, it has to be a direct unlock I'm afraid, some market stalls will only charge a tenner for it.
  • Cheers Jay. Might as well pay Virgin the extra fiver then since it keeps the warranty in tact.

I'm currently on sim only with Virgin 200 mins and 500 text for £15pm. Fed up with Virgin lately they're getting more expensive and their customer service, which used to be excellent, has gone right down the nick. Gonna go to O2 Simplicity £20.

If I get it unlocked with the code from Virgin will I be free to debrand it with XS+ or will that invalidate the warranty?

  • Im an o2 pay monthly customer however i recently put my lovely sony ericsson w880i in a 40 degree wash and needless to say isnt hasnt worked since.. I really like the sony ericsson w910i in white and am thinking of buying this phone pay as you go from the carphone warehouse and just using my own o2 sim, as it still works

    http://shop.carphonewarehouse.com/pay-as-you-go/sony-ericsson/w910i-white/

It is £30 cheaper on the orange network than on o2 and so i was wondering would it be worth my while to buy the orange pay as you go deal and get the phone unlocked? Can this phone be unlocked?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

If the difference is so minimal - I'd simply pay it, especially as even if you pay £15/£20 to an unlocker, the phone's firmware will be customised to Orange and not O2. This means many bread and butter services like data will attempt to connect to the Orange service and not O2. Certainly you can change the relevant settings yourself, but the graphics ans menu options will remain set for Orange.

For such a minimal saving, you'd be (effectively) buying a non-stndard phone that wouldn't wor as well whn used on 02. Psy the extra, save the hassle and get the full functionality.

  • Anyone have a code for the Samsung F400, or know of any sites that can supply one? I tried one last night and was told that it didn't do my model phone, after I'd paid (£4.10, so didn't lose much). Getting it back though.

If anyone can help, that'd be great. If not, I'll just take it down town at the weekend (Trying for a free or cheap code first as most shops in my area charge £20 as standard).
