I cant see what the issue is. Nothing in broadband is unlimited, they stated in the T&C's of the Fair Usage policy. Only thing they're guilty of is not declaring how many GB's is declared an unfair usage.

Your speed has been reduced due to this point of the T&C's:
What will happen if my use is very high?
we may either have to reduce the transmission speed of your broadband while we continue to keep an eye on your usage

They're not in any breach of contract as its declared in the T&C's.

orange's 40gb 'unlimited' service is quite well known, their argument is that even at the reduced speed you can continue to download for the rest of the month, though limiting your speed to 1/6th or less than it should be looks, to me, like a limit. hopefully someone will know a solution to your problem, but as the fup was in place before you started the contract i think you're stuffed, sorry.
    :(
this should be a lesson in always reading the small print, but with isps not publishing full details of their FUPs that is impossible, and why i would never again sign to an isp with one.

as a previous orange customer of 11 years, I would suggest you leave them as soon possible.

Customer (non)sevice is mainly in India, with resultant muppetry.

I left early and paid a termination fee- just glad to get rid of them
I even sent them an email explaining why I had left, and they didn't have the courtesy to reply (I got a read reciept, so they got the email)
    baldly going on...

Hi sorry I am new as well and I'm not sure what to do. I have also signed I think! for the orange package since 27 September and now the phone line will be connected on the 19 of May!!! Yes I know its taken this long for me to be connected. I have not been charged anything yet but I am noe considering if this is a good idea and should I cancel before the 19?? Can anyone help or advice me please?
  • i also got the 0.5mb restriction for 3months with no previous warning as to going over fair usage policy. i complained that they should have warned me as i also have a family all with computers, but i was told tough and had to sit it out. have been unrestricted now for about 2 weeks, but over the last 3-4 days again appear to be restricted. was put to tech support, waste of time, orange deny resrtriction, so have threatened that i will cancel direct debit unless its sorted, prepared to go into dispute. i refuse to pay good money for dial-up speed. also have only downloaded out of peak times. waiting for orange reply

    I'm with plusnet now.
They have limits (15Mb) but DON'T count any downloads from midnight - 8am in this. Your allowance is used from 8am-midnight.

As stated before - orange = muppetry
