Sadly, I've no idea what that will be, which is pretty frustrating. There's speculation throughout the company, but they're still managing to keep the secret, er, secret.

You`re obviously alluding to the plan to give away a Spiderman 2 UMD once UK buyers have registered their PSP on the Sony web-site. Supposedly limited to the first 1 million buyers. Try running that past the person teasing you with info and see their reaction !

Or are they going to force an inclusion of a specific game in the value pack, like they did with Wayne Gretsky Hockey in Canadaian packs ? Maybe a football game or Ridge racers ? Of course this "allows" them to ask more for the pack dont forget.

  • does anyone recon on there being a great shortage of these come christmas or do you recon it may be better holding of untill them to buy one (better package deals etc).

    what do ya'll think ?

Knowing the way retailers work - if there is not a shortage come Christmas then Sony have got their figures wrong! There should always be a shortage of the Christmas toy. But I am wondering whether or not it will be better to hold off for the time being since I want two for Christmas, I'm not in a rush for the release date.

I think this may have been true before the internet and ebay in partially became 'trendy'. Where as short supply's of a 'toy' could have caused increased sales previously, now if you can't get what you want in the shops there's always someone willing to sell you one on ebay and normally for a premium! For those without more money than sense and who are not prepared to pay ebay prices, You can always import one from the USA.

So at the end of the day, all Sony would be doing by not supplying enough PSP's is annoying both the retailers (for loss of sales) and the consumer for paying over the odds or having to buy 'grey market' goods.
  • Personally, I am in favour of not buying any PSPs in the UK and trying to source them from abroad. It really winds me up that PSPs will be priced at 160-180 (depending on where you look) and in the US etc, they are about USD 200-220..

Why must we meet Sony's expectations that the Brits used to being ripped off!

I bought a PSP when I went out to Canada in March. I also have a Sony Camera that uses Memory Stick Pro Duo and the PSP makes a great view screen. Also, all the games are Multi Region, so you can play UK games on a US or Asian PSP. The movies are tied to a region. The power pack has a converter built in, so all you need is a standard lead to use it in the UK.

There is a big emulator scene, like with the X-box. So you can (if you have a large enough memory stick) play NES, Sega Master system, Megadrive, Neo Geo and even DOOM, plus movies, MP3 etc. Plus, it's very sexy. If you want to really be ahead of the curve, you could order the white Japanese version.
'Imagine something inspiring that somebody once said to you and go out there and win!'
  • Does anyone know if there is any truth to the "statements" that the Japanese PSP is superior to the US version? I have seen this claim on several ebay ads without and substantiation.
  • !!!!!!, too quick to post..I mean't the Japanese screen is superior to the US screen ?

How could that be a good offer in comparison to the same package from Woolworths for £161.99?

It looks better now... I've just had my woolworths order cancelled due to "lack of stock". Funnily enough though, you can still order one from them for £179.
    Gits.
Anyone else had this problem? Stiff emails required methinks.
